The Swamp

by John McCormick

ANAMOSA, Iowa -- If anyone was confused over the last day on whether Sen. Barack Obama supports a requirement to tie future funding for the Iraq war to a hard deadline for withdrawal, he sought to make the point crystal clear this afternoon.

"I had some reporters who were maybe not entirely clear about this: I believe that Congress should and must not give George Bush a blank check," he told an audience of several hundred here. "I believe that Congress should impose a timetable and constraints on George Bush and insist that we begin to bring our troops home. I cannot guarantee that we can get all the Republicans we need, but we have to try."

It's been all of 34 minutes since McCormick's last Obama article.

I guess when you're as far behind in the polls as Obama is, you ask your media friends to work all the harder.

Another lost opportunity to straighten himself out, but alas, he is another of those socialist. Please someone stand up to these weak-knee, acolytes of defeat.

There he goes again.

Barok Obama scares me! I wonder if he has read the "Looming Tower"? Does he think withdrawing our troops from the middle East will serve us well in the future? That part of the world is going to be in flux for years to come. We have to be more involved not less to influence the middle East conflictto a happy comclusion.

Actually, Obama is sounding a little more to my liking. In the past, he has relied on reminding us that he came out against the war in 2002, when he wasn't even a Senator. Had he been a Senator, who knows. Now, he seems to have more of a plan.

He's going to need one because if he becomes Prez, (still a distinct possibility despite Hillary pulling somewhat ahead),
because the Bush plan is clear. Draw down 30,000 troops over the next year, maybe, and let the war rip.
For W, the war is over. He's just a caretaker now.
He's planning his post-presidential life.
It's the next President
who's going to be stuck with the real work of getting us out of Iraq. Perhaps the Repubs' biggest joke on the Dems in decades.

None of the players now will be players in a year.
W. is already off the stage
as far as having any influence on anything and Condi, Gates, Chertoff,
the neo-cons, they are planning their post-presidential lives too. So is the over-hyped General Petraeus. It's already somebody else's war, we're just not sure whose yet. These guys are irrelevant.

One of these days he going to figure-out it's funding or not. For a Con-lawyer running for president he shows little knowlege on separation of powers.

"Involved"? Yes. But with knowledge, compassion and understanding. Not with the bombs and bullets that have not been working now for 4 and 1/2 years.

You all need to shut up cuz Barack Obama ROX!! I hope he wins the presidential election because then he will be the first black prez ever.
