The secrets of management
Among the many striking quotations in The Secret Life of Words: How English Became English, Henry Hitchings includes this remark by a psychologist, Adrian Furnham:
It has been said that journalists first used the word “guru”tho describe management theorists because they could not spell the word “charlatan.”

I'd love to hear your take on the Washington Post article linked below.
It is time newspapers unite under a common banner, hire the best PR firm in America and explain with a consistent message that news organizations play a critical role in holding those in positions of authority accountable for their actions. And that no blogger or citizen journalist will be able to do that job better than the news organizations that have been doing it for the last 200 years.
The Baltimore Sun is only an example of what is happening in cities and small towns all across this country.
The news industry can save itself. But not if it doesn't consistently prove why it should be saved.

Very funny in its ability to skewer both management experts and journalists.
One thing: I think it's "Furnham."
