I laughed. So, your sponsor is back!

you do a nice old-jewish-guy inflection. Thanks, John :-)

On a more serious note than is warranted, a likely thing for the front window would be the specially curved knife the mohel uses.

In a similar vein, there is an old joke about a house of ill repute, but that is probably too risque for these gentle posts.

Have Mr. McIntyre's sweater and tie been photoshopped to make them consistently the same color, is his wardrobe limited, or are there an infinite number of jokes that this outfit helps the joke teller conjure up?

To simplify things for Mike Catalini (Mr. Catalini has many more important duties as a multimedia editor than working with me), I record a batch of jokes at a time. You will notice a wardrobe change in the next one posted.

About John McIntyre
John McIntyre, mild-mannered editor for a great metropolitan newspaper, has fussed over writers’ work, to sporadic expressions of gratitude, for thirty years. He is The Sun’s night content production manager and former head of its copy desk. He also teaches editing at Loyola University Maryland. A former president of the American Copy Editors Society, a native of Kentucky, a graduate of Michigan State and Syracuse, and a moderate prescriptivist, he writes about language, journalism, and arbitrarily chosen topics. If you are inspired by a spirit of contradiction, comment on the posts or write to him at john.mcintyre@baltsun.com.
