I retired from my job last year and moved to Arizona. Coming from a liberal state like MD, I was shocked at the tone of the articles by columnists/editors at the local metro paper (AZ Republic), who absolutely hate Obama and anything to do with the Democratic party. In fact, if you are from the "East", you are considered suspect. But what's appalling more is the complete lack of accuracy (truth) in many of the articles. The writers simply repeat the same message (s) uttered on Fox news against any liberal issue, like Health Care. Living in a state with a lot of moronic right wing rednecks is pretty scary, so I would agree with Mr.Pierce's viewpoint about the dumbing down of America.

I look forward to buying a copy of this book since the author and those calling in sounded right on the mark.

I'd like to point out that maybe it shouldn't be "idiot america" but "greed america". There's value in making a large group of people believe in something false. Media sources cater to certain groups in order to gain ratings, behind that are organizations that profit from large numbers of supporters.

Take our current hot topic of health care. Large influential groups are in risk of loosing money so a chain reaction of greed is put into place. Outrageous style news reporting cashes in because there's a market segment there to fill and a chance to gain ratings/followings.

America is all about the "Benjamins" now. What's "right, fair and just" went out the window a long time ago.
