Anybody know the answer to this?
I can't imagine I could find a state official to answer this question -- from a reader named Laura on the Severn -- on the Friday of Labor Day weekend, at 4:23 pm. So I'm going to throw it out there and see who catches it. I'm going to pour it in the saucer and see what cat takes a lick at it:
"If the state decides a certain day is a furlough day and state offices, including the MVA, are closed, does that mean you cannot be cited if your tag/registration/license expires that day?"

Here's my guess. The furlough day will be treated as a holiday or Sunday, so you if you got cited, nothing would most likely happen if you challenged it in court. You can be cited, though. My brother was cited for driving under the influence when he blew a .00, but when he went to court, the charges were dropped.

I don't think "J's" comment is relevant. If you commit a crime on a holiday, does that mean you are not charged? Does that even make sense? Everyone else should be given a pass until the next business day (i.e., license expires but the MVA is closed due to a holiday or furlough).
