Gotta be kidding: Obama on Vineyard

Sorry, but I think the president needs to put a little more time in at the office before taking furlough in Chablis Land by the Sea. Today's column

Dan Rodricks: This column begrudging President Obama his few days in Martha's Vineyard for a vacation is sanctimonious at best, specious at worst. Your own three acknowledgments effectively sink your argument. Aside from that, your arguments that his unfinished business after seven incredibly challenging months in office deny him the right to take a vacation is claptrap. By that moralistic reasoning, few if any people would be entitled to take a vacation. Finally, in terms of where the President is staying at Oak Bluffs, the area has a long and little known history of being an enclave for African-Americans, so his choice to stay there includes some important symbolism for many Americans. I would say your piece, and not the President's vacation, sends the wrong signal.
