Benjamin Button overrated
A friend agrees with me that the Brad Pitt film has been a tad overrated by critics, including the Sun's Michael Sragow.
"I just sat through the whole, overly long film, thinking how unmoved I was by the story and the characters. Great special effects, but even an episode of 'Barney' has great special effects these days. Is it that most filmmakers really don't know how to move us anymore, or is it that I'm at an age where there isn't much new or thrilling under the sun? Where's my Geritol? Where's the rest of me? Whose life is it anyway?"

I have no desire to see this film. Its ridiculous premicise holds no interest for me. I also have been baffled by the glowingly positive critic reviews.

I have not seen the film, but the premise is deliberately ridiculous. It is based on a Fitzgerald short story and uses the premise as a vehicle to communicate its themes. Its premise is no more ridiculous than that of many other films or creative works that use fantasy or absurdity as an artistic tool. Whether it does it well or not I don't know. I do know if you can't tolerate "ridiculous premises," you should stick to Lifetime Original Features.

Wasn't the premise done on Mork and Mindy when they "gave birth" to Jonathan Winters?
