Staying up for Stanley

We're a little red-eyed this morning -- but happy about it. The Pittsburgh Penguins knocked the Detroit Red Wings off the Stanley Cusp early this morning with a 3-2 win in triple overtime. ("Stanely Cusp" is not my creation, but that of a sharp headline writer in Detroit. The problem is, putting "Stanley Cusp" on the front page of Sunday's paper in Detroit did nothing but jinx the Red Wings in Monday night's game at The Joe.) It was a fabulous game. It went into OT when the Penguins scored with just 35 seconds left in regulation. Detroit dominated OT but couldn't score. The Pittsbugh goalie is Marc-Andre Fleury, and he's ridiculous. I want to thank WBAL-TV in Baltimore for not bugging out on the game and bringing us the 11 o'clock news, which, believe me, hockey fans, coulda happened here, because it's happened during a Cup final before.
