Presidential panorama

The Bush administration has now provided us with a little bit of everything from at least six previous presidencies – a divisive and dubious war (see Kennedy-Johnson-Nixon era); lies and domestic spying reminiscent of the Nixon era; inflation of the Ford era; weak consumer confidence and more inflation fueled by skyrocketing oil prices of the Carter era. Now we’re getting a taste of recession, unemployment and dropping home sales from the early Reagan era. All this in just one presidency! George W. Bush – he’s not the decider; he’s the distiller. He’s a one-man history lesson, a panorama in a suit, a walking Hall of Presidents.

Not that Bush is my favorite, but just think how much worse we'd be if we'd have elected Algore or John Kerry.

Is anyone else tired of having boring candidates to select from? McCain and Obama? Either way, I will cringe.

Ron,

How could we have been worse with Kerry or Gore? I know many people voted for the guy based on whom they "could have a beer with" (ironic, considering how Bush supposedly has been sober for the past 20 years), but I think intelligence should be a more important factor in deciding a president than charisma.

Brilliant, Dan, brilliant! Worthy of no less than Lewis Black himself!

Divisive, dubious war - we were attacked. Every nation knew who was supporting the attackers. We went into Afghanistan to unseat the Taliban and into Iraq to unseat the financier and threaten-er in chief, Saddam. both missions were accomplished. getting Iraq settled is another problem. And it is getting solved.

Weak consumer confidence - the media and political left has sustained an eight year war against our President, during a time of war. Unprecedented! There is no recession, only the repetition of the left and the media in hopes that if they say it often enough, people will believe it and it will be true. It is false!

Unemployment under Bush has been a all-time lows. 5.5 per cent is the envy on the civilized world. If it had not been so low for the last eight years, we wouldn't know it was up!

You are right, this has been some presidency. We were attacked on US soil eight years ago and not since! Our attackers and their brethren are failing on every front and losing both membership and support from non-American haters of America.

Tax policy under President Bush, specifically lower taxes for all Americans has helped the average family ride out the economic downturn that cycles through from time to time.

Al Gore had trouble learning in school and in performing in jobs. John Kerry had lower grades and performance than Bush. Bush beat them both. Sore losers and their sycophants always try to make the better man look bad. They didn't need any help when it came to making them look bad.
