O'Malley comment

Among many e-mails received in response to yesterday's column, was this one, from a reader named William Smith:

C'mon, we both know why O'Malley vetoed the "treatment not prison" bill. I've known the guy for 20 years, and I grew up down the street from Katie Curran. Martin has dreams of the White House in his eyes, and he's already polishing his Presidential credentials. His handlers have him convinced he's the next Barak Obama, so he's sold his soul to the national pollsters and pundits who tell us that no "soft on crime" Democrat will ever become President. And that's sad.

I personally predict that unless a Democrat stands up to these spineless losers that run the national Democratic party, we'll never have another Democratic President. People are sick of the John Kerrys and their ilk who couldn't find themselves  a backbone if they tried. I have no idea how these losers took control of the Democratic party, but I'm predicting another Republican President in 2008 unless someone stands up to these clowns, and fast.

Sadly, it isn't going to be Martin.

I agree with William. John Kerry lost to a clearly inferior George W. Bush because he kept listening to Bob "0 for 8" Shrum's advice, such as when he told him to take the high road when Karl Rove's goons were relentlessly attacking his military service. Shrum was also the genius who told Al Gore not to talk about environmental issues during the 2000 campaign, which probably caused many liberal voters to turn to Ralph Nader, thus allowing Bush to carry New Hampshire and Florida.

I will co-sign with William's email. Martin's infatuation with the White House has had a strong negative affect on his ability to serve as our local leader. It was true when he was mayor, and it is especially true now.

It's a shame Duncan dropped out of the Govenor's race when he did; he could have brought Marty down to earth a little bit.

Does MD allow for recall elections like CA? A fraud by the name of O'Malley has been committed on the people of this state and we should not stand for it any longer. The BGE hike was the final straw with this guy. After blasting Erlich and the PSC last year, Gov-do-nothing did just that this year regarding BGE- NOTHING. He's a damn liar and it's clear he and the Mikes will say and do anything to get elected and keep power. I know that the Sun, and you, are in bed with the guy, but at least have the gonads to stand up and call a spade a spade here. The man is going to single-handedly ruin this state and it's citizens and everyone just sits back and lets him get away with it because he's a Democrat who has his eyes on the White House. But, he's really a socialist at heart. You watch, taxes will go up and slots will show up at the tracks - and all they'll say is "we've exhaused all other options" That's liberal BS and you know it.
