The curse of Mussina
I am enjoying this. How about you? The Yankees haven't won the big one since Mike Mussina left the Orioles after the 2000 season. Hee, hee, hee. . . . My friend, Ingmar Burger, claims to have noticed the curse before anyone. "I named the Curse of the Mussino when that sourpuss was here," he says. "And whatever team is saddled with him is doomed. The curse is real."
Go Tigers!

I understand why Mussina left the Orioles in the first place (Angelos, three consecutive seasons of mediocrity with no hope in sight), but he got the outcome that he deserved for joining the Evil Empire. For years, he assured the Baltimore media and fans that he would never play for the Yankees (I recall that he took a discount to stay in Baltimore a few years back), but he had no problem violating his principles when Steinbrenner made him one of the highest paid pitchers.
I wouldn't consider it a curse, but rather karmic retribution.

I actually find myself rooting for the Yankees, BECAUSE of Moose! He was a great player and a great person. The only person to blame for him joining the Yankees, or anywhere else if had chosen, is a guy named Peter!

His best years were here with the O's. Despite having powerful lineups to support him, he's never won 20 games in a season, and he's never won the championship he supposedly went to the Yankees to win. Nothing personal, but I hope he never does as long as he's a Yankee. On with the curse!!
