Balto. Co. Councilman Oliver to resign from state job

Baltimore County Councilman Kenneth Oliver will resign from his position as a finance specialist with the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, an agency spokeswoman confirmed Monday.

Oliver has worked as a contract employee since February – an apparent violation of the county charter, which prohibits council members from holding any other employment or office with the state or county.

DBED spokeswoman Karen Glenn Hood said Oliver told leaders there "that his official resignation would be forthcoming," though he has not yet turned in a letter.

Oliver, a Randallstown Democrat, has not returned messages seeking comment today.

Council Chairman John Olszewski Sr. said he spoke with other council members this weekend, and all agreed that Oliver needed to either resign from the council or resign from the state job.

Oliver informed Olszewski of his decision today, the chairman said.

"All the other council members think this is a serious matter," Olszewski said. "I believe my council members will be glad to hear that Councilman Oliver has taken this action, and hopefully, it doesn't happen again."

He is still a dishonest immoral man who should not be holding public office at all.

Is he going to pay back the money that he has earned since Feb

Dishonest immoral is just the half of it – this is one of our public officials. Someone who draft the laws we ALL are governed by. What about those charges was the judge paid off? Did they really look closely at what he was using his campaign funds for? It’s all a joke and our elected officials are laughing all the way to the bank… Kevin Kamenetz and his cronies included! Thanks Meg O’Hare (comments in patch) for reminding us about Don Mohler, Kevin’s chief of staff & former assistant superintendent collecting retirement from Baltimore County Public School – and his brother who is holding 2 positions in Baltimore County Government, Vince Gardina, former councilmember who collects 52k from Baltimore County Council AND over 6 figures from his county appointment by Kevin Kamenetz as director of some department oh and lets not forget about Johnny O’s relatives who got Baltimore County jobs after Kevin’s got in and got comfortable and please don’t forget Mr. Jablon, that is Arnold Jablon, who’s Kevin’s right hand (right behind Fred) retired from Baltimore County worked for Venable law firm and now is back at Baltimore County making over 100k overseeing the very department that Venable and his other law buddy’s and developers can benefit from his sole decision not to mention this is also the same guy that stole computers from Baltimore County less than 15 years ago and we know Kevin knew about that. And there is so much more folk do your homework ask questions I mean the hard questions make them accountable. Dishonest immoral what’s new with County Government.
