Muse might challenge fellow Democrat Cardin
State Sen. C. Anthony Muse is considering a primary challenge to U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin, who faces re-election next year.
Muse, a Prince George's County Democrat, said this morning on WOLB radio that "we should build up our state" and wants to travel across Maryland to talk about ways that federal investment is needed to jump start the economy.
"I have a message for the people that Maryland can be better," Muse told radio host Larry Young.
Muse said he does not have significant policy differences with Cardin, but believes he can be more "effective" than the incumbent senator. Muse said he would be able to "stop the gridlock" that has strangled Washington over the past year.

Cardin enjoys the backing of much of the state's Democratic establishment, which could make Muse's bid tricky -- particularly since President Barack Obama has not drawn a primary challenge that could gin up general interest in the federal primary.
Muse said that he's "run against the machine" in the past, and is not concerned about Cardin's campaign organization or ties with other popular Democratic leaders.

AH, the Washington Beltway/ Baltimore Beltway political rivalry continues...and the rest of the State's more conservative/moderate views remain unrepresented!

Beating Cardin would be nice, BUT you would still have to get by the conservative on the ballot in the general election.

The wave has started for Marylands next senator to be a true conservative, come ride the wave.

Anyone who thinks a Republican can be elected to the senate from Maryland is delusional. The electorate of Maryland is far too educated to vote against their own interests. The election of Little Bobby Ehrlich was a fluke. A mistake not likely to be repeated. Cardin is unbeatabe. He will protect Medicare and Social Security from the lunatic fringe tea party. GOP=Greedy Old People.

He has my vote time to clean house. We need new blood in Washington.

Amazing how gutsy people get when their own seat is not on the line. Just one more reason why Maryland needs to be like 45 other states, and elect a legislature every 2 years (all delegates and half the senate).

Someone needs to challenge this fiscally challenged man who has been in office FAR TOO LONG!

"The electorate of Maryland is far too educated to vote against their own interests. "
What a HOOT!!!!!
Seeing as how PG, MC and the city elect our pols, that comment is somewhat based in Fairy Land Tales.

Sen. Muse is the ONLY senate member of the black caucus in Annapolis who voted AGAINST the Dream Act.
He would be a great addition to the U.S. Senate and I would vote for him in a heartbeat.
Welcome to the race, Sen. Muse

I expect State Senator Muse's comment about being able to "stop the gridlock" in Congress is so much baloney. At any rate, his significant policy differences with US Senator Cardin would include his opposition to marriage equality legislation and Cardin's support for it and his support for aid to non-public schools and Cardin's opposition to it. If Muse runs, it'll give me good reason to get out to the polls on primary election day if only to vote for Cardin. It's not like the two don't have their policy differences.

Muse needs to be drug tested. The only reason he is running is it is a "free shot". He doesn't have to give up his seanate seat to run (IE- Catherine Pugh/Mayor's race). How is a guy with no DC experience going to end the gridlock-and no seniority too.
EGO TRIP!!!

Its time to elect a black senator. Ben Cardin is good, but people of color deserve political power.

Someone has to step up and challenge the system. I like Muse and I will get people to vote for him - let's change the political game in Maryland -count me in!

Having worked with Tony Muse in the past, I have a good deal of respect for him. I can't speak to Democrat primaries per my own political preference. I can attest that Muse has generally been a standup character and legislator. Plus it's odd that two Baltimore-area Senators represent the state given the balance between Baltimore-area and DC-area. Muse should run.

Muse is NOT new blood. His wife is alleged to be a freaking theif..Muse is more of the same ilk and he comes from PG County; clearly a county that lacks ethics and morals in its poltical types. And, we Do NOT need another pimp in the pulpit running for office.
MUSE is garbage..and you stupid ppl keep drinking the cool-aid..You are STUPID

When people say they are going to vote for or against someone on the basis of the color of their skin, it says something (not good) about the voter. We're electing public officials to take stances and vote on issues and that is what is important to me. Apparently, there are still some people who thinks that skin color makes people think alike. Well, that's baloney! It takes a little work to learn how candidates stand on issues, but the work is worth it.
