Following the 9pm Election Board closing Tues nite, Alex Rodriegez, Hassan Giordano and afew others hosted a nice reception in their offices for city candidates and staff, etc. I met a bright young woman there who is running for the 13th district council seat, Shannon Sneed and I hope she wins the upcoming primary, Ms. Sneed 30 and De Von Brown. 21, who is running in the 12th district are clearly Baltimore's future leaders, and they are both ready to role NOW and enter public service for all the right reasons, as I believe I am as well. To preside as council president over the radical reformation of our moribund City Council with the enthusiastic assistance of those two young, community based legislators would be truly a dream come true for me, and perhaps for Baltimore's uncertain future. It will send just the message needed to the ossified, or corrupt that the times are changing in bmore. Anyone who is in a position to help these two delightful, articulate spokespersons for their respective districts, please, please do. Those two both deserve to win their districts and help to oust the embedded status quo and redeem our troubled city. .

you misspelled Brandon M. Scott's name in the 2nd District Council race.

Thanks for pointing that out. It has been corrected. -J.S.

This list is badly out of date. None of the unaffiliated mayoral candidates was able to qualify for the ballot, as were none of the three unaffiliated council candidates in 1, 4, and 10. And after no Republican filed in 4, 11, and 12, the party central committee designated nominees to fill those vacancies. And Robert Stokes has withdrawn in 12.

Will the paper look into the background of these candidates? Anthony Hamilton for instance has 56 instances where he has been a defendant in Baltimore City district court. He also has faced court mandated evictions (one currently in process). He also has a felony assault charge on his record. He incredibly works for the city as the education coordinator. SOmeone needs to publish this!
