Flirtatious tweet mistakenly sent by Pugh aide, spokesman says
Update: Following the inquiries from The Baltimore Sun, the @pughformayor account now says, "By authority: Committee to elect Catherine E. Pugh..."
A flirtatious tweet sent from state Sen. Catherine Pugh's account was the result of a staffer's mix-up, a campaign spokesman said today.
The staffer, legislative aide Gary Brown, sent a tweet from Pugh's account saying "mmm mmm good looking men here" Saturday night, while at an Associated Black Charities gala at Martin's West, said campaign spokesman Anthony McCarthy.
Brown thought he was logged into his personal account, but was actually logged into Pugh's account when he sent the tweet, McCathy said.
Within minutes of tweeting from Pugh's account, Brown sent a prim-and-proper message from his own account about being pleased to attend the gala. Both tweets were deleted following inquiries from The Baltimore Sun.
Brown will no longer be tweeting for Pugh, McCarthy said.
McCarthy also said that Brown, who is a legislative assistant, volunteers for the campaign in his free time. He did not send campaign tweets while he was on the clock, McCarthy said.
Pugh could run into another problem with her Twitter account -- it does not include a line saying that is authorized by her campaign committee. Under a state law passed last year, candidates are required to include an authority line on
campaign-related social networking sites.
McCarthy said he thought the line was not necessary because Pugh has not yet filed to run for mayor. I've put in a call to State Board of Elections director Jared DeMarinis for clarification.

Yeah right! That's what aides are for, to be thrown under the bus when the candidate screws up. Why would "Gary" be tweeting about men? Unless, oh never mind.

Pugh needs to hook up with Weiner

why does this article not point out the inconsistency that that this is not the type of "tweet" that would normally come from a male??

If there was anytime a person's sexual orientation needs to be noted its now in this article! The male staffer MUST be gay or bi in order for this excuse to work. If he's not then as other commenters have noted, some explaining needs to be done!

I AGREE WITH JOHN. 1ST OF ALL WHY WOULD GARY BE TWEETING ABOUT OTHER MEN??? BUT PEOPLE WHO KNOW THERE WAY AROUD CITY HALL KNOW PUGH REPUTATION FOR PLEASING MEN. SHE WAS AND MAYBE STILL ONE OF EX-CONMISSIONER NORRIS PARTY WOMEN. BRING SOME MALE FRIENDS IN TOWN CALL PUGH AND SHE'LL BE THE CROWD PLEASER. IT WAS HER. REMEMBER SHE'S AN OLD PLAYER, SHE NEEDS TO GO BACK TO JUST PASSING NOTES, THE NEW TECHNOLOGY WILL GET YOU IN TROUBLE EVERYTIME.

Even if the tweet did come from Ms. Pugh herself, what's wrong with it? It appears to me to be a general and complementary comment about the men attending a socail function. Society is going nuts over Twiiter etiquette...

This excuse would have been more plausible if she said that Anthony McCarthy had sent it.

Whether she has this tendency or not, this kind of mishap doesn't bode well for her. If she can't coordinate people in her closest (or should I say closet?) circle, how can she run the City?

I don't remember Gary being gay so....

another example of why twitter is the worst invention ever. it should never be used by political figures. or humans in general.

I guess the whole point here is the stupidity of the lie and cover-up, which is always worse than the underlying act itself. Unless this dude is gay, she is lying, and yes the tweet coming from her isn't awful, it's the lie to hide the embarassment

This is how the group calling itself #bornfreecrew and @patriotusa76 follow Rep. Anthony Weiner twitter messages. Andrew Breitbart, Matt Drudge, Dan Wolfe, and Michael Madden these guy knew all about Weiner messages since May 5,2011.
This is a group of low-life pigs who follow Politicans and Media twitter messages so they can BLACK-MAIL them.

Meagan Broussard knew Rep. Anthony Weiner were married and she made the first move on Weiner, calling him Hottit after listen to a speech on Youtube.
This upstanding respected student single mother from a small town in Tx. Yeah. Take at look a Broussard pic's, at "Thefrisky.com", and the others whore's also. Meagan Broussard ran to Abc and took $10,000 to 15,000 for the pic' s that Rep. Weiner sent to her, but no one has shown the Pic's she set to him. A major setup the group i mention in my previous posting. The Dallas peper carry a story that Darrell Issa were informed regarding Rep Weiner twitter messages, Hungington Post also carry the story.

Hey Shirley, I think you're blaming the messenger there hon. Put the blame where it belongs, on the one's who send the messages, not the whistle-blowers!

Who really cares? If she sent it, great, if he sent it great! Glad to know they are human beings and there were good looking men at the gala. I might go next year!

If you ever met Gary for yourself, then you know that it is a tweet he would send. No judgment- just the story is completely plausible. How easy is it to lose track of which account you are logged into? And at the end of the day the comment is still fairly innocuous so everyone should just relax.
