Bartlett’s net worth appears to grow in 2010
Rep. Roscoe G. Bartlett, who is generally among the most wealthy members of Maryland’s delegation to Congress, appears to have boosted his net worth and expanded his real estate holdings in 2010, according to a recently filed financial disclosure report.
Disclosure reports for most members of Congress were made public last week but Bartlett received a one-month extension and his financial information was recently posted on the clerk’s website.
The Western Maryland Republican reports purchasing eight lots on seven sites in 2010 valued at between $580,007 and $1.3 million. The properties were located in Frederick, Annapolis, and Knoxville, Md. Overall, Bartlett put the value of his assets at between $2.4 million and $8.2 million, up from the $1.8 million to $6.8 million he reported for 2009.
The reports, filed with the Office of the Clerk of the House of Representatives, list value ranges, not specific numbers. Click on the following link for more detail on financial disclosure reports filed by Maryland lawmakers.

Good for him, although since you have labeled this "Breaking News", your bias is firmly attached. Anytime a Republican makes wise investments and takes advantage of market trends, The Sun thinks that's just "fat cat" stuff. I guess you'd rather have Rep. Bartlett be more like Sen. Cardin who got his wealth the normal Kennedy-like way --- inheritance. That's more noble.

Well now, this is a far cry from the increase that Queen Nancy Pelosi saw, most of it in real estate (in spite of the depression) from some 20-30 million during last reporting period to now over 64 million... How do you do that in a depression?

You have got to be kidding me. "Breaking news" is now the sign of political bias? You have the whole package there Bobby: paranoid and delusional. Wow.

I would love to see a Article about the political empire the Omalley's have built and continue to grow. They are in in every district and every office and there power is overwhelming. why dont you do a article on the King and his empire.

At the rates they get paid it should be high. I just saw the chief of staff for Rep. Harris named Kevin Regrut makes over $126,000 a year! What happened to the days of public service?

This piece forgets to include the corrupt politicians, like PG County Executives who are able to get $100,000 checks from developers.
Bartlett served in office for a long time but made his money not only as a professor but in his many patents that he owns. Many politicians have a lot more money than him but don't report it because it is bribe money.
