O'Malley selects a new state prosecutor
Gov. Martin O'Malley picked Emmet Davitt, a staff attorney on the Public Service Commission, to be the new state prosecutor.
Davitt's prosecutorial experience comes from time in the criminal division of the Attorney General's office. There he led the the insurance fraud unit. Other courtroom experience on his resume includes prosecuting drug cases in Baltimore.
He graduated from the University of Maryland's law school and earned his undergrad degree from the University of Virginia, according to his bio on the Community College of Baltimore County's website. He is listed as a member of the Board of Trustees for that college.
Davitt would take over from outgoing prosecutor Robert A. Rohrbaugh, who was appointed to the six year term by Republican former Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich and did not seek re-appointment.

Joe-Ball,
That is a shocking revelation. A lawyer who knows a judge? Oh my God, the humanity of it! He even made a donation to someone who is apparently a friend? Wow! This is a conspiracy brewing. No Republican would ever do this type of thing. Especially not in Maryland.
Bob Ehrlich for example would never stoop to this level. I mean it's not like he gave no-bid contracts for computer leases to his biggest campaign contributor Alan Fabian. Mr. Fabian also didn't give $95,000 right before the original contract was tripled without any bidding by Mr. Ehrlich. I mean, that'd really be disgusting.
Did you hear George W. Bush once chose a friend of his dad to run for Vice President and made another Secretary of Defense? Luckily I think someone put a stop to that nonsense in a hurry. Well before any wars based on old vendettas and misinformation were started that's for sure.
Phew, thank God none of those things happened though because Republicans are just and rightgeous.
Seriously though, the guy is a good lawyer with solid credentials. He even donated a kidney to help keep a 10 year old friend of a family off of dialysis. He's replacing someone who almost completely muffed the Sheila Dixon case. He definitely can't be any worse.

Well if he was a Dentist and appointed to be state prosecutor that would be one thing.
But only Ehrlich appointed Dentists to Senior govt positions that had nothing to do with Dentistry. Specifically, Sec of DNR.
I guess that's one reason he lost. Twice.
