One last gubernatorial candidate
Libertarian candidate for governor Susan Gaztañaga was busy campaigning last week and couldn’t respond in time for Sun story over the weekend about gubernatorial underdogs.
But she did get back to us. Gaztañaga has a concise three point plan: eliminating the state sales tax; order the Maryland National Guard back to Maryland; and allow anyone without a criminal record to carry a handgun.
Applicants who have a job related reason to carry a gun can get a permit. Otherwise, citizens must show a “good and substantial” fear for their safety to obtain a permit, according to Elena Russo, a Maryland state police spokeswoman. Typically the state police would require documentation of a threat in order to grant such a permit, Russo said.
Like other candidates, Gaztañaga says she’s running to win. Though, with 8,400 registered Libertarians in Maryland, she will need to stay very busy.

Three-point plan, huh? This won't take long: 1) when she eliminates the state sales tax, presumably she will resign 6 months later when the state runs out of money and is declared bankrupt; 2) the governor can't recall the National Guard when they are involved in war-making activities; the job she is thinking of is "President," and 3) will these permit gun holders be allowed to carry guns on planes? In courthouses? In the State Capitol? How about the Governor's Mansion? Yeah, sounds like she will "need to stay very busy" alright. Preferably by reading a few books.

Ralph Jaffe is a retired social studies teacher who used to teach at Fallston High School. Your article attempted to discredit him by saying he "calls himself a teacher, yet holds no teaching license and runs a school out of his apartment." He's a 68 year old retired teacher.
Your article did a pretty good job of mocking everyone except for the self promoting MBA holder on an ego trip.
The joker who switched from Republican Senate to Green Party Governor is probably the only one truly deserving of mocking. Everyone else is just a concerned citizen trying to step up and fight a corrupt system. Each one should be commended for playing David in a world run by Goliaths.
