Harris has nearly $900,000 in 1st District race

State Sen. Andrew Harris is reporting that he has raised about $371,000 in the past three months in his race for Maryland's 1st District congressional seat, according to the Associated Press.

Anna Nix, Harris' campaign spokeswoman, said Tuesday that Harris has raised about $1.5 million so far in this election cycle. Nix says Harris has about $896,700 cash on hand.

Congressional candidates are required to file fundraising reports for the second quarter on Thursday. Nix says Harris is making his filing on Wednesday.

Harris is seeking the Republican nomination to run against Democratic Rep. Frank Kratovil, who defeated Harris in a close race two years ago. Kratovil is considered one of the most endangered Democrats in Congress.

God. A lot of people must hate Kratovil a whole bunch to give that miserable wretch Andy Harris all that money.

Sandman, you've got to be right. The problem is that no one realizes that Andy Harris has - what I think could be - a viable challenger in the primary if the state party wasn't unofficially backing Harris as the right candidate. They seem to forget that Harris lost in '08 when John McCain took this district by 19 points! Those are dismal numbers....
Rob Fisher is running in the primary. He's a businessman, Vet and all around great candidate. He knows how the REAL world works. That's what we need in Washington. It's a shame that the state party has completely shut him out. They had put his name up on their website as a candidate in June, but took it down. They finally put it BACK up yesterday - but I have a feeling it was very begrudgingly. They wouldn't reply to e-mails from me or my family...and I know that others contacted them and received no response either. For goodness sake, this is primary - in America! They shouldn't be actively working against one of their own at a time like this! Especially when their candidate of choice is so disliked by so many.

You can bet most of it is from special interest group, doctors insurance companies and other medical PACS

OMG Who are you people! Get the facts straight. Andy Harris lost the '08 election by less then one percent of the votes cast. If that Libertarian candidate, Richard Davis the "spoiler", didn't run most of 8000 plus votes would have gone to Harris and Kratovil would have been history. Voters should not be fooled this time by the ridiculous Republican challenger in the primary and Davis and the possible 2nd Independent candidate in the General Election. Let's change Congress! Let's get rid of Pelosi. VOTE FOR HARRIS
