« Ehrlich set to make stop in Baltimore Thursday ... | Main | Report: Owens bypasses AA County executive race »

June 30, 2010

Late night with Bob Ehrlich

The Ehrlich campaign will post the name of their running mate on Facebook … at 10 p.m. The timing works well for night owls and the all important 11 p.m. news. Robert L. Ehrlich and his freshly announced running mate spend Thursday crisscrossing the state.

They start with a rally in front of Austin Grill in Silver Spring at 10:30 a.m. and then head up I-95 to visit a Baltimore charter school started by a one time foe of Gov. Martin O’Malley at 2 p.m. The pair finish the day in southern Maryland at a Republican Central Committee dinner. On Friday Ehrlich plus running mate file for candidacy in Annapolis.

Ehrlich's decision to start Thursday in vote-rich Montgomery County will fuel speculation that he's going to pick a native of that DC suburb like Mary Kane or Howard Denis. Sun reporter Julie Bykowicz and I laid out some of the names we've been hearing in a story here.

The roll out is designed to maximize free press coverage heading into the long Fourth of July weekend, and is similar to the way Ehrlich announced that he was running – a widely expected development that the campaign stretched into several days of coverage.

If Ehrlich picks a liberal like Kane or Denis, he can kiss his conservative support goodbye...

Isnt it obvious that his pick is someone associated with charter schools?

Why not just come to the table with real change instead of wowing crowds with a great running mate. Ehrlich is the candidate, not his running mate. Combover has not shown any change in his ideals that align with those of the state's population, like strengthening public schools, supporting union workers and jobs, and providing employment for those who need it. I am not going to be impressed with his running mate, because he is still the same. The only reason he won the last time was because he chose an African American running mate.

Mr. Erhlich increased the state budget 26% during his tenure, O'Malley 6.4% over four fiscal years. Murphy is the real candidate for change with proven private sector experience and a real economic plan. Mr. Erhlich we can do better.

trampolini,
I love the way you leave out the fact that there was a budget surplus during Erhlich's time and a severe shortfall during Owe Malley's time
Kinda changes the whole misinformation complexion doesn't it?

I think that's overly dramatic Jessica1. Conservatives certainly aren't voting for O'Malley, so who *will* they vote for if it's not Ehrlich or MOM? My guess is that conservatives will do what they can to make sure that O'Malley doesn't get returned to office no matter what and vote for Ehrlich anyway. We'll see...

Meanwhile we have a sitting Governor LYING in his email campaign.
Here is a quote from the latest.

"While facing a national recession, he has fought for and secured a record $5.7 billion this year alone for public education"

I'm sorry! Who did he FIGHT? His Demonrat patsys? The 3 Repubs in the GA?

Just who the hell did he FIGHT against to get this money he is obligated to fund anyway?

NO'Malley ran on fixing BGE rate and blamed Ehrlich for not getting it fixed. Last I looked my rate is still high. What did NO'Malley fix? All the Dems were against slots and now we have slots but still no revenue, just ridiculous expenses. Raised the sales tax 20%. The Dems passed Thornton and did not fund it. You want change - get rid of all of these idiots.

So Ehrlich supporters complain about their BGE bills when Bob let them raise rates through the roof. Smart thinking there.

Ehrlich didn't let BGE raise the rates, your legislature voted for deregulation long before Ehrlich became governor, John! Sounds like a O'Money supporter.

My BGE bill is fine because I don't blast the AC, and I turn the lights off when I leave a room. Turn down the heat on your water heater!
You whiners about your bills don't know how to wear sweaters inside in winter in your house. , You need to work with Mother Nature and know when to open and close your windows and shades!
It is not rocket science. My bill is literally HALF of my next door neighbor's, and I am plenty comfortable!
How many of you constant whiners use alternate suppliers for electricity?
U bitch and bitch and bitch, Dont blame either loser for your electric and gas bills. Blame yourself. And I bet a lot of you whiners are fat asses who should be outside for jogs or walks or runs instead of inside your house eating french fries and watching sports.
Bottom line, if you use your dishwasher and/or washing machine, only when completely full, and, if you stop having babies you obviously cannot afford, you would learn that YOU could lower your own bills

Is it me . . . or does he seem really proud of his ability to use Facebook. It is impressive anytime the republicrits figure out how the tubes work on the internets.

John's right...but every single Republican in the General Assembly supported dereg...there's nothing that would make me think he would have voted different than the rest of his GOP colleagues...
