Prescription pot this session …
In a year when lawmakers seem to have their minds focused only on the budget and the election, Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller sounded optimistic about legislation introduced Tuesday to legalize medical marijuana. (The Sun’s Kelly Brewington wrote about that legislative proposal today.)
After session Miller held his regular gaggle with reporters said:
“I think if it comes to the floor of the Senate it will pass. We have Senator [David] Brinkley here who is a cancer survivor who a cancer survivor and he supports the bill. ...
"The secret is not to let it get abused. People come from California, these young people, they have cards. You have to make sure it is for truly medical purposes and there is some check and balance and if that happens in a meaningful way it could have a positive effect. If some bureaucrat in California decides to let everybody to have them it is a misuse of the system.”

Whatever concessions are allowed for those with medical issues to find some help by using marijuana... when EVERY single step in the process of getting that natural state agricultural product to theses patients remains illegal and causes the product to be sold at high black market prices... the public harm from the costs of prohibition in general remains in place.
One step at a time. I know.

Wow, Maryland Delegates, the elite, above all legislator, will allow Marijuana use. Am I dreaming, because this really sounds too good to be true? Does this compare to finally allowing private citizens their right to bear arms? Maybe there is hope for all Maryland citizens; to one day have the right to bear arms. Wow, can you imagine the Maryland Delegates (our elected officials) finally following and adhering to the Constitution of the United States. I bet someone educated the Delegates on the founding fathers stories; how this country became the United States of America.

Could you get Senator Currie's take on this Annie?
(From Annie: Sen. Currie declined to comment. As did Mr. Kelberman.)

Senator Currie was the lead sponsor of the current law back in 2001. I certianly expect that he will be in support of this one...

I am a Medical provider and beleive that thier is a positive medical use for Marijuana. I also beleive that alcohol should have the same legal restrictions that Marijuana does. Alcohol kills innocent thousands each year, but you can't say that about Marijuana. Senetor put your beer down before you criminalize someone elses happy hour habit
