UPDATED: Web site: Secret Service vehicle dispatched to Jenna Bush towed for unpaid tickets

The Web news site investigativevoice.com, a creation of former Baltimore Examiner staffers, has just broken the news that Baltimore parking officials towed a Secret Service vehicle from the city's Federal Hill neighborhood. The vehicle may be part of the protection for former first daughter Jenna Bush, who moved to Baltimore last year after getting married.

UPDATE: Investigativevoice and this blog originally reported that the vehicle was a limousine; it now appears that the vehicle in question is a van, according to Baltimore Sun reporting.

I am Republican and like the Bushes. That said, sorry, but if you don't pay your parking tix, you get towed! I guess the 4-6 months the Fed takes to pay their tickets doesn't cut the mustard in Bawlmer :-)

You have got to be kidding me. Wonder who will get audited for this one

That's awesome! It was probably parked
in front of a fire hydrant

What Bright BC Police Officer was unable to notice the tags on the car were federal? Federal Tags on a limo within 50 miles of DC...It's not Rocket Science .

Lets get it straight. The limo is a mini van gold in color and it been sitting in the same spot for alonger then the law allows.. This gave me more then a good laugh the day I saw the boot on it. The Secret Service detail seems to be able to watch everything but the parking patrol. Welcome to South Baltimore, Hon.

Hey Gilly-Ann its not rocket science to know that not all secret Service security vehicles would have gov't tags. Its called Secret service for a reason. Maybe you should apply for the BC police, you would fit right in.

Typical Low Class Baltimore!!! City Cops are a joke!!!

welcome to Bawlmer hun! We are going to tax yeah; fine yeah; penalize yeah; and then ticket yeah and blow all the money on shopping trips. We are the very definition of corruption so pay your tickets!

It doesn't matter if she is Jenna Bush. The Feds take our money but cant pay their parking ticket. No excuse. It not the cops fault. Or the parking control agent fault. Stop blaming everyone else and pay like everyone else.

Wait. According to the US Treas. site for the Secret Service (http://www.ustreas.gov/usss/protection.shtml) Jenna Bush is not entitled to Secret Service protection.

Maybe the papers are taking longer to process for discontinuation of protection services at Treasury, since they have more pressing matters on their plate at this point, but I assume she is over 16 years old and her dad is no longer president, so.....

Yes.... I'm curious. Why would Jenna Bush still have Secret Service assigned to her?

For the same reason the Obama girls will have Secret Service assigned to them for the rest of their lives.

One never knows when someone in our world wanted to start a WW3.
The best way to accomplish this with little money....Kidnap an ex-president's offspring.

About the bloggers
Annie Linskey covers the statehouse for The Baltimore Sun. Previously, as a City Hall reporter, she covered the corruption trial of Mayor Sheila Dixon and kept a close eye on city spending. Her reporting on the city’s economic development arm led to the termination of multiple improperly bid seven-figure public works contracts and her coverage of the death of a fire department cadet resulted in overhaul of that agency’s top brass. Before that, as a crime reporter, she interviewed Bloods gang members and the police detectives who pursue them.
Originally from Connecticut, Annie has lived and reported on war crimes tribunals and landmines from Phnom Penh, Cambodia. She lives in Baltimore.

Paul West covers Washington for The Baltimore Sun, continuing a tradition that began the month the paper was born, in 1837. He hasn't been in the DC bureau that long--only since Ronald Reagan was president. He's covered Congress, the White House and presidential campaigns as the paper's national political correspondent and Washington bureau chief. He's on the lookout for news of significance to Sun readers at the other end of the B/W Parkway. That includes the activities of the state's congressional delegation and anything else that might shed some light on the inner workings of the nation's capital.

Julie Bykowicz's first days as a political reporter, in January 2009, coincided with Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon's indictment and the start of the Maryland General Assembly's 426th legislative session. She focuses on coverage of state agencies, such as social services, juvenile justice and prisons. During the session, she wrote about the death penalty, slots parlors and speed cameras, among other hot topics. Julie began political reporting after more than seven years on The Baltimore Sun's crime desk. She lives in Baltimore and works primarily in Annapolis.
