O'Malley outlines first wave of stimulus spending

Gov. Martin O'Malley's office just sent out the prelminary list of transportation projects that will be funded by the federal stimulus package President Obama signed yesterday. The plan calls for about $223 million in spending on highway projects (mostly on maintenance/system preservation) and $412 million on transit (much of it for repairs and renovations to rail stations). The biggest single expenditure is the purchase of 100 hybrid buses, which the administration already announced last week. Details are below.

Is there even ONE DOLLAR going to the citizens of Maryland given the fact that the money CAME FROM US?

I think technically, the money is coming from China, but I rather doubt that makes you feel any better...

Andy, technically WE will ultimately be paying for all this, not the Chinese.

I do not want a dime of this money either way, but relief from the increased taxes and increased energy bills the boy gov has straddled us with these past two years would be welcome.

I was being facetious.
