Examining Maryland's "fascist bureaucrats"

The Washington Examiner is calling a St. Mary's zoning board "fascist bureaucrats" because they're trying to enforce the Critical Area Law.

Take a look here.

It may not be "fascism", but it does smack of tyrannical inflexibility. it is hard to tell exactly what has happened from the less-than-detailed Examiner blog post, or the original news story, but if the people have been living on the site and working on the house for more than 20 years, it seems transparently clear to me that they should be able to add insulation and drywall and retire in the place.

About Tim Wheeler
Tim WheelerI report on the environment and Chesapeake Bay. A native of West Virginia, I have focused mainly on Maryland's environment since moving here in 1983. Along the way, I've crewed aboard a skipjack in the bay, canoed under city streets up the Jones Fall from the Inner Harbor, and gone deep underground in a western Maryland coal mine. Recently, I have been covering the growth and development transforming the landscape. I love seafood, rambles in the country and good stories. I hope to share some here.
