Crab regulations: we have dates!

Four days after crabbing season officially begins, we are finally getting word that the regulations/restrictions are on their way.

They are expected to be unveiled on April 10, at a joint meeting of the Tidal Fish and Sport Advisory commissions. Yes, you read that right. The recs and the commercials in the same room, from 7p .m. to 10 p.m. This is going to be interesting. And it will be a public meeting, held at the Calvary church next to the Department of Natural Resources.

A little birdie tells me that most of what's coming is not a surprise. We already know the states are both talking about a maximum size for females, a possible two-week closure of the peeler fishery, and a bushel limit.

But no one is sure what kind of bushel limit, and that will be the real news here. The watermen have already said there need be no limits at all on males; DNR's bushel proposals have been species-wide.

Anyone else notice that this is happening three days after the session ends?
