Richard Colburn, Bay Senator?

Sen. Colburn, who represents the Eastern Shore and hails from Dorchester County, has never been known as the greenest legislator, but he's put in a bill that could change that reputation, as Tim Wheeler reports here.

And speaking of Mr. Wheeler, check out his pieces in today's Sun about the Critical Area Law bill and the state's wish for flexibility in spending its $50 million trust fund, which it hopes to allocate with the help of Baystat.

As regular readers know, Tim covers growth and development and often offers his insights on all kinds of environmental topics on this blog (he's a veteran environmental reporter and president of the Society for Environmental Journalists). For the next few weeks, you can find his insights on the Sun's session blog, where he will continue to keep an eye on environmental policy from Annapolis. He will also occasionally post here...

About Tim Wheeler
Tim WheelerI report on the environment and Chesapeake Bay. A native of West Virginia, I have focused mainly on Maryland's environment since moving here in 1983. Along the way, I've crewed aboard a skipjack in the bay, canoed under city streets up the Jones Fall from the Inner Harbor, and gone deep underground in a western Maryland coal mine. Recently, I have been covering the growth and development transforming the landscape. I love seafood, rambles in the country and good stories. I hope to share some here.
