Archbishop has 'faith' in Harbaugh, bets on Ravens

Archbishop Edwin F. O’Brien has entered into a friendly wager with the Catholic bishop of Pittsburgh over Saturday’s Ravens-Steelers game.

If the Ravens win, Bishop David A. Zubik of Pittsburgh will make a donation to Our Daily Bread, the Catholic Charities program that serves more than 250,000 hot meals in Baltimore each year.

If the Steelers win, O’Brien will make a donation to the Catholic charity of Zubik’s choice.

“I am looking forward to delivering Bishop Zupik’s check to Our Daily Bread after the Ravens beat the Steelers,” Archbishop O’Brien taunted Thursday. “I have great faith that Coach Harbaugh, a product of Catholic schools, will have his team well-prepared for the game and the Ravens will move one step closer to the Super Bowl!”

I guess Bingo isn't exciting enough.

I guess it beats spending his time covering-up molestation

What does activity such as this encourage our citizens to be like? He shows up at a bar in Baltimore to have a beer and now this? It is a sad commentary on what these traditions have done to a lot of Christians.

I am not an O'Brien fan Pat, but he has done nothing to deserve your comment. Harbaugh's team will win and Baltimore's homeless will benefit. I am also not a football fan. But I am a big fan of Our Daily Bread!

So Bill, are you suggesting that being a Ravens fan and having a beer in Federal Hill is unchristian?

Natty Boh and the Ravens are both fine traditions. Get a life Billy boy.

No. I am not suggesting anything. I am repeating what the bible has to say about drunkeness and activities that support the devil such as gambling, whether the Archbishop was drunk or not. It doesnt set the right example for Christians, and much of it has been part of traditions in this church.

Bill, your syntax, grammar, punctuation, and opinions match those of Clay.

Are you Clay's clone?

Bill, Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is betting the mayor of Pittsburgh Luke Ravenstahl on the game also.

Would you like to attack their religions also?

It seems a matter of what God wants Mr Curtis and not religions.

I agree Bill, God wants the Ravens to kick a** and he want's the Archbishop and the mayor of Baltimore to win their bets!

God is very disappointed. It seems that He, too, had wagered on the game - and lost.

Perhaps Mr. O'Brien could hold off next year. I am a Ravens fan.
