Red Cross raffles Nissan Versa -- or buggy

To spur blood donations, a Red Cross chapter in Northern Ohio is offering people who give a pint of blood the chance to win a car -- or, for the Amish who live in the region, a horse-drawn buggy, the Associated Press reports.

Spokeswoman Christy Chapman in Cleveland says the Red Cross didn't want to leave its many Amish donors out of the giveaway. The organization's Northern Ohio blood services region includes three counties with one of the nation's largest Amish populations.

The Red Cross regional operation has a board member who is Amish and who is arranging to have a buggy custom-made for the contest, which wraps up Sept. 6.

Blood donors who prefer a more modern mode of transportation can win a 2010 Nissan Versa.

A smart Amish person will take the Nissan and sell it, buy a buggy and put the rest of the money in the bank. God gives us wisdom.

I've got a busted knee, I can't drive either. And I'm a frequent platelet donor!

What a greedy son of a gun you are Clay--the church taught you well or did Jesus himself descend to teach you avarice? And what makes you assess that a horse drawn buggy will be less expensive than a Nissan--not if the buggy comes with an Arabian thoroughbred at the helm to take the Amish in royal style to their place of sacrifice.

Clay's advice was really quite good. Why are you attacking him?

They attack because they are angry that God's word makes them appear as wrong in their decisions, as if the Amish winner would request an Arabian stallion? In doing so they often make themselves look foolish. I have given away more money to people in my lifetime than I probably should have. I am too generous in many circumstances, and I have been taken advantage of. Greedy is something I have never been. I certainly hope that I dont appear as angry here. I am often blunt in getting points across. I certainly wasnt angry in leaving the post above. If I got on here and mentioned how much I love everyone with every post, would they change and do what God wants them to? I dont think so. It is hard to interact with people in a personal way here on the internet anyway. It takes meeting someone personally and having a close talk with them to encourage that. For as much as some here may say that my mind is made up and I am not going to change, there are certainly people here who dont love God who have the same attitude. God bless.

Clay, I hardly ever agree with you on anything. But the post you started this thread with was good advice. R-anon is a very bitter man and he attacks just because he sees your name. It isn't your argument. It's personal for him.

Clay - Like Dana you and I more often than not find ourselves on disagreeing. In this case I also agree with the comments. There are those who because of bitterness feel the need not to simply diagree but resort to appeals to ridicule and name calling. You are one of the few I have disagreements with where that doesn't occur.

Ah the sanctimony of LaRocca--that is one thing completely consistent--a very bitter man she or he says--as for Ravensfan-- a self righteous son of a gun--most certainly the obedient altar boy--O no Clay, Dana and I we are such fair and nice people--we only do justified things--tra-la-la. Ravensfan you pat yourself so much on your own back you need a good massage to rid yourself of the pain ensuing from such constant patting.

Are you feeling insecure R-anan?

Dana - It sure looks like Anon is feeling insecure to me.
