Women's ordination groups march on Vatican

Groups that have long demanded that women be ordained Roman Catholic priests took advantage of the Vatican's crisis over clerical sex abuse to press their cause Tuesday, demanding the Vatican open discussions on letting women join the priesthood, the Associated Press reports.

Representatives of a half-dozen Catholic reform groups marched on St. Peter's Square on the eve of a three-day rally marking the end of the church's yearlong celebration of the priest. Vatican officials have said the during the rally Pope Benedict XVI may apologize for the decades of rapes and molestation that children suffered at the hands of priests.

The umbrella group Women's Ordination Conference said the Vatican shouldn't be celebrating the priesthood while "turning a blind eye when men in its ranks destroy the lives of children and families."

"While the hierarchy spends their time covering up scandals and throwing major celebrations for themselves, Catholic women are working for justice and making a positive difference in the world," said Erin Saiz Hanna, the Women's Ordination Conference executive director.

She spoke at a news conference before a dozen members of the reform groups marched to the Vatican in a bid to hand out flyers to tourists, priests and other passers-by. Police stopped them when they reached the square and asked them to leave, which they did.

In spite of the fact that many of the men in charge in the Catholic church have made large mistakes, the solution is not to let women share the leadership, in this or any other church. I have seen churches that have suffered when women become too powerful in their system, the Episcopal church for one. The problem is Romanism. This church needs to get rid of it as having anything to do with the leadership of the church. Satan frolicked in Rome in the days of Caesar and still does, because for one the church lets him, and it started with Constantine, an emporer himself. Let Rome be a place where people eat pizza and see the tourist sites. Divide the property there amongst the other churches in the world, especially where the poor can be helped. Dont get me wrong, women are very important in any church, and they play a major role in holding the church together. Women shouldnt be allowed to run it however. If you have any doubts, just look at the leadership of Nancy Pelosi and Barbara Mikulski. Before you laugh, I believe they are both Catholic, or at least they are supposed to be even though they support abortion.

This is another fine example of the patriarchal system, not just within the Catholic Church, but in society in general. Women have made many positive strides since the 60s and 70s; however, our culture, and many others, continue to have the attitude that women are 2nd class citizens. Women still are faced with discrimination and we, as a society, have a long way to go to make us all equal. Although I am a non-believer, I have a lot of problems with a "Christian God" that treats half of his/her "creation" as if they just don't have the same status as men.

In addition – from the ‘several days late and a dollar short’ department, I am attempting to reach Camille Quelquejeu. She made the following comment on June 5 from the blog posting “Judge blocks public school graduation in church;” however, the story died a natural death and I fear she did not see my reply. I hope that you do see this.

Camille said:
"Louis, I just want to tell you that since your arrival here, I have found this blog much more readable and enjoyable. You bring a compassionate presence to these proceedings and have demonstrated an enlightened way to approaching the issues and other people. Your gentle, Christ-like response to Clay puts my own feelings to shame. Carry on, Brother."

I replied back with:
"Hi Camille,
Thank you so much for your VERY kind comment. I was DEEPLY touched by your observation. With that said, I do think you give me WAY too much credit. Yes, I do try very hard to be a peace-maker and I refuse to contribute to the ugly "us versus them" type comments that seem to be so pervasive, not only on this blog, but throughout our society in general. I do not understand why I find so much comfort and stimulating conversation on "faith blogs" as I am a confirmed non-believer. I guess I don't even completely understand myself - not to mention others (smile). However, I do find inspiration from Jesus (the man) and his teachings and moral views. Once again - thank you so very much, Camille, and I hope to "speak" to you again in the future."

I DO HOPE VERY MUCH that you see this, Camille.

Yes Louis, I saw your gracious response to my comment. Thank you.

Clay, are you saying that in the Christian Nationalist Party which you hope runs this country some day, there would be no leadership roles for women? What do you think of Sarah Palin?

Clay's insipid salute to stupidity and Louis' arm wrenching self pat on the back aside, women in the Catholic Church would be eons ahead of the game if they just bailed on the Church, and religion altogether, if they want any kind of meaningful control over their lives.

Hi Robert and thank you so much for your kind comment "Louis' arm wrenching self pat on the back aside." I guess that being polite just doesn't pay off. However, I will not change so I forgive the slam. We all need to lighten up here and treat each other with respect and kindness.

Pleased to meet you, Camille.

Robert, I agree with your statement anyway. I'm on your side, man. However, your comment was out of line. As to Clay - well, we disagree and are on opposite sides of the religious and political spectrum but I do not think he is stupid. He simply has a fundamentalist world-view. As I have said previously, I will continue to treat Clay and, yes, you, with the human decency that everyone deserves.

Louis - I wish we all could act with the same level of politeness respect and kindness you show.

There are plenty of leadership roles for women, but I believe that men should be the main leaders in any particular facet. For example, women as teachers in church, but a man over them in that department. Women as leaders in ministries, but a man over them as head of the church. We shouldnt need a certain political party to support God. Both major parties should already do this, along with any other party. Sarah Palin may pull in some women and that is good, but personally I think she is kind of flaky. She didnt help John McCain, even though he wasnt going to win anyway. The best thing she can do is to be there to support her husband and both together try to pull in votes.

There goes Nicole Winfield again trying to create a story where there is none. Before anyone thinks that there was a significant demonstration let's understand what happened:

EIGHT (8) women protested for the ordination of women.

The demonstration lasted ONE MINUTE.

Two cops in a GOLF CART and one on foot asked the women to leave.

End of story that the A.P. Thinks is worth paper and bandwidth.

And now the press will start to back off their support of liberals as they see the election results coming in between now and the end of the year. Of course, some like Fox and Christian channels didnt support liberals to begin with and others will always support them. But the bulk of the media, which has been leaning towards the left to sell commercials to the majority of the public that they see as leaning left themselves, may just start leaning the other way a bit. After all, even though they may be liberal themselves they have to make money. They wont get there by supporting the almost Marxist folks who dot the Obama regime. And of course you will see the president trying to lean a little right himself if he thinks it will save him. Now he is covered in oil. The Clinton admin supported the drilling offshore after caving in to those who didnt want to hurt the cow pastures in the west by putting a hole in the ground. Now we have wells where it is almost impossible to stop a leak if the shut off valve doesnt work. I would like to see us off oil dependency though. I wouldnt complain if it and pharmaceuticals are made illegal. They are both junk for the most part, and they have both done what they can to win friends and influence people. They give money to fat cats in one case and terrorists in the other.

Clay may not be classically stupid, but everything that issues from his keyboard is stupid and a stupid waste of his supposed brain. His crime is beyond stupid, because he chooses stupid at his rationale for existence, The truly stupid can be forgiven, he cannot be forgiven.

Dana - It must be a slow day for news for the AP to waste time, bandwith and paper over such an occurence. I guess if the protest had 16 people and lasted 5 minutes it could have made front page status.

As an important Roman Catholic Opinion maker, and author of a book on Pope john Paul II, I want to respond to the responder named Clay. You may be surprised that I agree with you.It is high time that the Catholic Church be allowed to exit from its own Babylonian Captivity. Satan may indeed be present in Rome, and he is closely linked to a cabal of homosexuals. It is important to emphasize that it is a very small evil cabal, because as we all know the tendency to impute a huge percentage of homosexual priests to the Catholic Church was a trick of the Polish Communists! Let us never repeat that mistake. No, I am speaking of a very small cabal of very homosexual prelates who like to disport themselves with youths in large palaces in Rome. It is time to start telling the truth. This little cabal, and their minions in the US, who by the way also opposed the Iraq War, are the cause of all the problems. But even worse than that cabal are the people, who as Clay discussed, want to put women in charge in Church. It is enough that we have to deal with women in our marriages as good heterosexual men. Having to listen to them in Church is something that no truly loving God would want to inflict on virtuous men.

By the way the translation of my John Paul II biography into Swahili just came out!

Thank you Ravensfan. Your comment is appreciated. However, to please Robert I will try to be less guilty of my so-called "arm wrenching self pat on the back." (smile)

Clay, you do need to try and join the 21st century - oops - maybe even the 20th.

LOL Robert, Your point is taken; however, I will forgive him (Clay) for "he knows not what he does." Can't you as well?

Clay, IMHO the only channel that truly has a left-wing bias is MSNBC. With that said, I watch it - enjoy it - while recognizing its bias. On the other hand, many actually take Fox seriously while they lie, stretch the truth, and take statements out of context. Your comment concerning pharmaceuticals is off base. They are not perfect by any means. They are greedy and self-serving; however, good science that produces medications have saved many, many lives. What do you propose as an alternative? Praying for them instead? Sorry man – I’ll take science anyday.

Louis, as for me, I pray for better science.

Modern medicine is responsible for the fact that I am alive today. But, in a similar manner, prayer is responsible for the fact that I survived long enough for medicine to catch up with God's will.

I'll take both.

I like prayer and the health food store. They havent let me down yet. Most pharmaceutical drugs do people more harm than good. When I went to visit someone in the hospital recently, most of the patients whose rooms I passed were overweight and obviously didnt eat and exercise right. Now they were 60 or 70 something and in intensive care due to heart problems. Fat hanging down from their bodies while trying to breathe through a mask. If anyone has a health problem you are welcome to leave it here and I will leave a natural remedy. I may suggest a Godly remedy also.

Dear Clay,

I never thought I would have the perfect opportunity to use a quote from Mike Tyson, but here it is. And I think it could go for the many, many people i have known who thought they had "health" all figured out. Mike Tyson quoth: "Everyone has got a plan, until they get hit,"

I agree with you Clay. A healthy lifestyle is better than ending up ill because of a lifetime of gluttony and lack of moderation. We would agree that a morally healthy lifestyle is a good thing also. Though we might disagree on the particulars.

And I will quote from another fighter "bring it on." Thanks.

Some comments are in order to several of you folks (Dana, Clay, and Peter Paul) so I will combine them into one to keep things simple.

To Dana: Responding to your comment regarding science and prayer, your point is well taken and may very well work for you. As I assume you have noticed, I am a non-believer so the prayer would not be valuable for me. I am very happy to hear that you are in better health whatever the reason may be, my friend.

To Clay: First of all I would like to apologize for some testy remarks that I made to you; after all, I have a reputation to uphold for being tolerant (smile). I am human, with the same human weaknesses as everyone and I allowed my frustration with you to bring out the worst in me. I’M SORRY, CLAY. Your comment that follows concerning pharmaceuticals is a generalization in my opinion – yes, obesity is a big problem in our society today but to imply that medicine and obesity are somehow correlated is not valid. Lastly Clay, I myself have a health problem that is serious but thankfully not deadly. I won’t go into details on what I consider to be a private matter but those “awful medicines” that you speak of have been very helpful to me. BTW, I am 60 years old and weigh only 155 pounds so being overweight is not one of MY problems.

Also directed at Clay:
Now I would like to address something that hasn’t been mentioned in this conversation, but is pertinent to all of our previous exchanges (and is a constant source of my frustrations with you). The topic I speak of is your fundamentalism and your belief that the Bible (KJV) is inspired by God and every word is true. I touched on this in a previous exchange; however, you would not even take a look at these contradictions. With the following, I will therefore take the liberty to expose you to some starting right in the beginning in the book of Genesis.

Order of creation:

Here is the order in the first (Genesis 1), the Priestly tradition:
Day 1: Sky, Earth, light
Day 2: Water, both in ocean basins and above the sky(!)
Day 3: Plants
Day 4: Sun, Moon, stars (as calendrical and navigational aids)
Day 5: Sea monsters (whales), fish, birds, land animals, creepy-crawlies (reptiles, insects, etc.)
Day 6: Humans (apparently both sexes at the same time)
Day 7: Nothing (the Gods took the first day off anyone ever did)
Note that there are "days," "evenings," and "mornings" before the Sun was created. Here, the Deity is referred to as "Elohim," which is a plural, thus the literal translation, "the Gods." In this tale, the Gods seem satisfied with what they have done, saying after each step that "it was good."

The second one (Genesis 2), the Yahwist tradition, goes:
Earth and heavens (misty)
Adam, the first man (on a desolate Earth)
Plants
Animals
Eve, the first woman (from Adam's rib)

Next topic:
How orderly were things created?
#1: Step-by-step. The only discrepancy is that there is no Sun or Moon or stars on the first three "days."
#2: God fixes things up as he goes. The first man is lonely, and is not satisfied with animals. God finally creates a woman for him. (funny thing that an omniscient god would forget things)

Next topic:
How satisfied with creation was he?
#1: God says "it was good" after each of his labors, and rests on the seventh day, evidently very satisfied.
#2: God has to fix up his creation as he goes, and he would certainly not be very satisfied with the disobedience of that primordial couple. (funny thing that an omniscient god would forget things)

Clay, all of the above is in Genesis and merely the tip of the iceberg.
Credit is given to the following source: http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/jim_meritt/bible-contradictions.html#order

Finally to you Peter Paul: Your point is short but is VERY meaningful and pertinent to this exchange. Very wise, my friend.

Well obesity and needing medicine seem to be correlated, but I prefer trying to keep things under control and going to the health food store. Most medicines are unneccesary and cause more problems than they solve. As far as different translations of the bible, I never said that KJV was the only one that people could use. I believe that since it was the first version and God wanted it created then it may not be a bad idea to use it. I use New King James. I wouldnt worry about different translations of the bible. People who dont believe point out slavery and whatever in the old testament as reasons why they should agree with satan and encourage others to not follow God also. The New Testament is much more important to us and essentially replaces the old one in many ways because of what Christ wants us to do. And what did He say were the most important things to do? To love God with all your heart and to love your neighbor as yourself. Thanks.

Clay - While I agree that at times there is correlation it isn't always true. My family has a history of cholesterol problems which has nothing to do with diet and exercise. Without medication some of us would have likely died from heart attack or stroke by now. My mother survived a heart attack that should have killed her because of medication she was given. Did you ever consider that the very medication to criticize may have been God’s answer to someone’s prayers? Proper diet and exercise does not prevent all medical issues.

Clay, I have to respectfully disagree that “(m)ost medicines are unneccesary and cause more problems than they solve.” Perhaps your views on this topic are shaped by the sensationalistic press that is much more likely to seize on the negative rather than the positive in order to increase ratings. I see your point on the KJV – I simply used it because it is the only version that I am personally familiar with. (Ouch – one should never end a sentence with “with”). Clay, my man, although I don’t believe in the Bible does not mean that I am a Satanist. As I have said in the past - I do not believe in ANYTHING supernatural and that, of course, includes God and Satan. Finally I feel compelled to ask you the following question. Do you seriously believe the things you posit or do you simply enjoy goading folks that are moderate to liberal? I do have to wonder sometimes.

Apple pectin lowers cholesterol by binding fats and heavy metals. Fiber, calcium, co-q10, garlic, lecithin, b vitamins, essential fatty acids and shitake mushrooms are also helpful. Were any of these ever used to see if the levels would go down? Water-soluble fiber is very important in reducing serum cholesterol. It is found in barley, beans, brown rice, fruits, glucomannan, guar gum and oats. Pure virgin olive oil reduces serum cholesterol and may be the reason why people living in Italy and Greece have lower levels. What most people do is to go on the drugs without actually changing their diet a lot. Drugs have side effects and should only be used as a last resort. For most people, they arent needed. What is needed is a diet consisting of more fiber, fruits and vegetables and less meat and dairy products. For people with hereditary disorders that keep cholesterol elevated, researchers are currently working to develop a device implanted under the skin that uses an enzyme to break down ldl and speed up its removal before it can attach to artery walls and form plaque. Believe me, I would be looking into that. Thanks.

And to Louis I absolutely believe what I post or there is no way that I would post it. And if you dont believe anything supernatural then you may not be called a satanist but you are absolutely doing what satan wants you to do. Thanks.

Ravensfan, once again I am in agreement with you. The agreement is based on science rather than faith - but you are so right.

Clay, I will admit that some of what you say is indeed true; however, I am no expert on dietary issues. One that I am familiar with is co-q10. A recently released double-blind, placebo controlled study has shown that co-q10 does absolutely NOTHING. In addition there are conflicting views concerning the value of garlic but I do not know whether garlic was studied with a valid scientific study. What "researchers" are you speaking of? Believers in Supplementary, Complementary, and Alternative Medicine (SCAM)? LOL, man - when the above is studied and proven by REAL science then I will believe it and then it will also become part of mainstream medicine. Until then - once again I'll take science over woo-woo.

As to your final comment, Clay, all I can do is laugh. Many, many of us non-believers lead moral lives just like Christians. If your "god" sends me to hell, then he/she is very mean spirited. Just look at your own Bible and the atrocities committed by "God." He killed babies and encouraged war over different beliefs along with many other objectionable acts. Man, he/she even asked Abraham to kill his own son. Now he/she will judge me?

Louis - For me I see science or maybe knowledge is a better word as a gift from God.

Clay - Unless you have a degree in medicine you really aren't qualified to be making statements like "For most people, they aren’t needed". If you had the training you would realize that such broad statements can not be made because each persons situation is different. There are also plenty of other conditions that diet would have no effect on. Add to that Louis's point that most of the claims made by the methods you propose have no scientific research to support them.

There are thousands of studies that show that herbs and natural medicine are very helpful, including co-q10. I have been getting more energy from it for years. When I dont take it, I have less energy. I take Shen Min and it keeps my hair from getting gray. When I take more, my hair gets blacker. Been taking it for years. Glucosamine and Chondroitin have been shown to actually rebuild joints. When you look into it, you will also find that many of the studies that show that herbs are useless are financed by drug companies. You want studies? Check out Life Extension. Many physicians, if that is necessary, support it. To say that one has to have a mecical degree to say that most pharmaceuticals arent needed is not only a major part of the problem, it is a conflict of interest. Pharmaceutical companies are major contributors to medical schools and their research. It keeps the money coming in for them. Thanks.

Clay - Maybe you could provide us links for some of these thousands of studies. Claiming that without providing any lends no credibility to your argument. Check the ones you saw as no doubt they were done by the companies selling the herbs. Also keep in mind any herbs and natural medicine taken can also produce side effects just as prescription medications do. To say most pharmaceuticals are not needed is completely irresponsible Clay I've seen some of the scams convince people who had serious medical issues to avoid treatments that would have helped. Keep in mind there is little to no Federal Regulation over the supplements industry as well.

Any issue of Life Extension has studies that back up the article. Most of the studies are done by physicians. They will send it to you for free. Call 954-766-8433 and ask for a complimentary issue. Also for anyone here who wants to call about a health problem, they have people who work in the health care industry available for free from 8 am to midnight Florida time who will answer your questions and not necessarily for selling products. They are nurses, doctors, nutritionists, etc. Call 1-800-226-2370. At least get the free issue. Thanks.

I took a quick look at Life Extensions website and noticed false information on the very first section that I clicked on. The section I clicked on concerned Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) which is something I know about. The article was misleading both about modern HRT as well as the safety and effectiveness of their so-called herbal substitutes.

I have a busy day ahead of me so I don't have time to go into it right now. But I suggest that you read the disclaimers at the bottom of each page:

http://www.lef.org/images/template/title_footer_information.gif

They are clever in that they put their disclaimers in as image files rather than as text. In that way the disclaimers are not encountered by search engines.

And I have gotten a lot of good info from them. No doubt not every product is useful for everyone. Hormone replacement therapy is probably the most unusual thing they have in the site. I would suggest that people get the mag and look at it for themselves. Look over the site and call if they have any health questions. See if all they want to do is to sell you things. Anyone recommending any product has to protect themselves from lawsuits because people will take an article's advice and then try to sue. By the way, I put on a little testosterone cream on occasion. I use it about once every two months and I dont need viagra. Viagra can cause heart attacks. Thanks.

Also, please put here what you think about the article that is false. I want to talk to them and get their reply, which I will put here. What do you do for a living? Thanks.

Clay – Life Extensions is selling products so why would their tests be any less biased than those of the pharmaceutical companies? Add to that little to no regulation by the FDA and your argument is rather weak. As Dana pointed out there already appears to be questions about their claims. Clay I’m not positive but taken improperly in high enough doses and testosterone can cause problems as well. On of my Dad’s friends tried your method and died of a heart attack that could have been prevented with proper medication and monitoring.

Clay,

Topical testosterone is not available without a prescription. If you are applying a "cream" you believe to be testosterone and obtained it without a doctor's prescription, you are either a dupe or a criminal. Whichever it is, smearing yourself with a powerful hormone without a doctor's supervison is VERY dangerous! Please don't place it anywhere near your genitals ... and wash your hands carefully after application!!

BankStreet - I thought testosterone wasn't available without a presciption myself.

For anyone wishing to learn about the "science" at Life Extensions there is an organization called Quackwatch that exposes fraud. Quackwatch is run by Dr. Stephen Barrett, MD. You can read his bio. @
http://www.quackwatch.org/10Bio/bio.html

After reading that, go to Dr. Barrett’s expose on Life Extensions @
http://www.quackwatch.org/search/webglimpse.cgi?ID=1&query=Life+Extension

On this page he has 32 matches in 16 files concerning Life Extensions. I urge anyone interested to peruse that page. Here, there are many links that ALL pertain to Life Extensions and the bogus science surrounding that organization. I'm very sure that you will find lots of fascinating information.

BTW, I will be taking a break from this forum (In Good Faith) to rest and recoup from my frustrations (smile) as there is a frequent poster here that simply has no idea about reason and logic. I will return after a few days of R&R and will be back. At this point I will engage in interesting conversations with many new friends. However, the one I speak of above will have to be left out of my posts before I lose it and say something that I shouldn’t.

Louis,

Enjoy your time away. I understand your frustration; I, too, have to pull away from time to time....

It says testosterone on the label. I got it off the net. Saw it also in Vitamin Shoppe. All I know is, it works. You dont use that much. It depends on your levels currently in your body. Remember also, almost all men suffer from enlarged prostate if they live long enough. One of the theories about it is that it is caused by a lack of testosterone and therefore a buildup of dehydrotestosterone. So figure. Also something else. I have an enlarged prostate. I went to the store and started using one of the products with saw palmetto. It started working (less frequent urination etc) but not enough. I went to Vitamin Shoppe and got two more. One had lycopene that mine didnt have and another had pygeum that mine didnt have enough of. I started taking all three, one a day. My symptoms are gone. I would be sitting at my desk and the slighest bit of urine would cause a sensation that I had to go. No more. I guess I have been on it for three weeks. I was taking one a day as a maintenance before. My brother had the same thing. He went to the doctors and got a prescription drug that caused side effects and he had to get off of it. He got on another that is working for him. Now which do you think is better for you? I think I made the better decision. No, you dont want to take a whole bottle or something crazy like that. It says not to on the label. Some companies are very professional about it. Solgar and Life Extension are good products. Most of the studies that I see in Life Extension mag are done by medical schools and scientific researchers that are recognized in the field. No, I am not saying that every product is a cure all for everything. I know another thing. With shen min, the only gray I have is a little by my sideburns. I also have considered a hair transplant. I take another Chinese hair formula that has shen min and other hair herbs. I havent lost much more hair and have decided that it looks healthy enough to not need a transplant because it is thick enough to comb over to cover the recession (I have the widows peak). People ask me how I stay so young looking. I tell them about the herbs and vitamins I take. I also take Acai in capsules. The juice is better. Noni, Acai, Gojiberry and Pomegranate are great for you and come in one juice but it isnt cheap. People on islands off the coast of Japan drink Goji Berry juice a lot and there are people there 100 years old who smoke cigars everyday. Of course they also have less stress, less pollution and a lot less processed foods. I eat too much processed food myself. So anyway, you will never convince me that I am not helping myself by what I am doing. Once when I forgot to take glucosamine my joints started to feel worse (I have mild arthritis). Anyway, I am glad to help anyone if they have health problems. Thanks.

Louis - It's easy to get frustrated or lose ones cool. You are to be commended for knowing when to take a break. I hope I can be as honest with myself and take a break. Enjoy your R&R.

May peace fill your soul, Louis.

Clay. If you think you have an enlarged prostate you should see a doctor and make sure it is not prostate cancer. The bladder symptoms are the same. Testosterone does not treat either Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (enlarged prostate) or Prostate Cancer. Your theory that enlarged prostate is caused by “a lack of testosterone and therefore a buildup of dehydrotestosterone” is pure rubbish.

Read the facts from NIH:

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000381.htm

Don't be gullible Clay. We need you around here.

I have been to the doctor and I get my psa counts done. He said it was benign. I wasnt saying that testosterone would solve the problem. I was just saying that it was one person's theory. It does seem that I have gotten better from what I have been taking. Anyone can say what they want, I myself have been helped by what I have been taking, and that includes Life Extension products, regardless of what they have tried to present research wise. Anytime a doctor who doesnt make money from selling herbs but the opposite says that something is wrong with an herbal company it is a conflict of interest. Only proper research can confirm scientifically what these products do or do not do. I do not sell drugs or herbs and I know that herbs have worked for me. The best doctors are those like mine who once said to me that glucosamine has been shown to actually rebuild joint tissue and that patients have remarked to him about having more pain after ceasing from using it. The best rests from this board that people who are biased can take? Permanent ones. I would stay to hear about God though. He helps with health more than anything. Thanks.

Also, the proper web address for the Life Extension Foundation is www.lef.org I dont know what the person above is talking about or two people above are talking about in cutting down Life Extension. The research part of the organization is run by Steven Joyal MD. I should have looked into this because there are a lot of places that call themselves life extension and I dont think the organization I am referring to is what anyone above has looked into. A lot of times if someone is cutting down an herbal company there is a drug rep or someone from a drug company behind it. Thanks.

I don't work for a pharmaceutical company Clay and I seriously doubt that anyone else here does. Dr. Barrett, whom Louis linked to, also has not had those affiliations.

We just don't want you rubbing either illegal or wrongly labeled testosterone on your body, especially if you have an enlarged prostate. Try Crisco instead.

Dr. Barrett doesnt have much to say, if anything, on Life Extension, at least not the one at www.lef.org I hope people here look at the site and read the info. I would recommend the products for any problem you may be having. Their research has led to a lot of breakthroughs for the medical establishent as well as the health care industry. God bless.

And my friend tells me that acupuncture has helped her and her sons. I dont know much about it but she says that it helped one of her sons with depression. I cant specifically recommend it but if anyone has any feedback here on it let me know. Thanks.

Clay,

It just so happens that the best school of Acupuncture is quite close to you. The Traditional Acupuncture Institute in Columbia Maryland. In the past, as well, they supported a school of philosophy of sorts called Tai Sophia, if memory serves. the curriculum was largely based in part on the works of a brilliant Jesuit priest --mirabile dictu -- called Pere Larre who was an incredible expert on traditional acupuncture who had spent most of his life in Viet Nam.
Will wonders never cease!

Thanks for the info. I dont think my friend would say it has helped if it hasnt. While we shouldnt accept any health answer that comes along, we also shouldnt be too quick to dismiss cures that people have used for thousands of years. My prostate symptoms are gone. Of course, it does help to do modern research on products also. We have to beware of biased studies. Thanks.
