Haggard to start new church
Former megachurch pastor Ted Haggard, who fell from grace amid a sex scandal, is starting a new church in Colorado Springs, the Associated Press reports.
Haggard made the announcement Wednesday during a news conference at his home.
Incorporation papers for a new church were filed three weeks ago, he said. Haggard previously indicated that he and his wife incorporated the church for accounting purposes but predicted they would return to some type of ministry one day.
Haggard resigned as senior pastor of the 14,000-member New Life Church after a male prostitute alleged Haggard paid him for sex over three years.

Mr Haggard is a poster child for denial. I did find it amusing, though, that he formed his "church" ... "for accounting purposes." Yeah...first things first. Wouldn't want those tax advantages to slip away. At least he's honest in that regard. In other aspects ... not so much.

This man is like a recurring nightmare--why can't he just disappear instead of resurrecting himself to torture the republic? He was trying to become an insurance agent--I guess he failed at that and now he wants to do the only 3 things he's good at--be a public menace--be a god purveyor, be a deceitful rascal--all three being one and the same--this man is worse than Elmer Gantry--at least Elmer had passion and charm--this man has neither.

I wish to clarify that the Rev. Haggard is an important moral theologian and ethical philosopher by my lights. He has a great grasp on Natural Law. He has made clear something that is so useful for all those confused in their sexual identities, who may have had the added confusion of actual identifiable sex in their lives. Let us be clear. Having sex with lots of men does not make you gay. Some may say, how is it that those like Rev. Haggard who claim that their homosexual activity was caused by trauma always pick good-looking men to fulfill their traumatic expressions with. This is a trifling rejoinder by my Natural Law lights. If you are traumatized naturally you are going to choose a very handsome man by which to soothe your difficulty. Some homosexual activists may asserts that those who are truly traumatized actually often choose less desirable men, in decidedly less desirable circumstances. This is a misunderstanding of Aristotle. Man naturally seeks the Good, and in the case of trauma it would be a misdirected Good, which would be the most handsome man you could find. Thus Haggard chose the handsome and muscular prostitute. But if you understand Natural Law you know this does not make him Gay. This proves we need philosophy. Fortunately, I am here to provide it with my many books on Natural Law.

The post by Mr. Georgeous is totally misguided and should be disregarded as personal opinion that is not biblically grounded at all. Mr. Haggard's previous activity with a male prostitute is wrong on so many different levels. First, the Bible calls it an "abomination" in God's eyes. If you preach the word of God, you should atleast try to live because your "calling" is a high calling and thus requires a certain discipline to it. Secondly, he "LIED" about it. Mr. Haggard preached against homosexuality yet he continued to participate in it. How is this right? Third, he violated his marital vows because he was having sexual relations with someone other than his wife. Fourth, he violated the pastorship. Mr. Haggard was called by God to sheppard God's people. He violated that by not living out what he said he believed in. He could have easily asked for help with this issue in his life but he didn't. He continued to "pimp" the pulpit for his on selfish gain and thus God brought all things he was doing in secret out into HIS marvelous light.
This is not about "natural law" so please stop selling that stuff. This is about a higher calling that was not lived up to. I believe that Mr. Haggard deserves forgiveness and restoration but in God's time not in ours. I also believe Mr. Haggard is not different from any of us and call fall just like any of us can. My prayer to God is that those of us who are saved by God's marvelous grace will pray for Mr. Haggard, his wife and his family and for the people he will lead. Sin is a very difficult thing and CAN NOT be conquered on our own. We need God's grace to defeat sin because He is the only person that can!

Dear Eric, fellow Christian,
As the auxiliary Bishop of Washington, VA I need to comment on your understandable misunderstanding of the profound thinking of the Professor of Natural law. Let's say, just for argument's sake, that you were someone who had had sex with a lot of men. Just for argument sake let's say it was in a seminary in South Florida. Let's say that one of the people you went after was a cute blond guy. If the guy turned you down, and then asked you "Doesn't it matter to you when you hit on me that you know I'm straight?" If you were to reply, "Not really." doesn't that prove you are straight?
You see being gay is a state of sin, which you do not have to identify with if you are close to God. Having sex with lots of men, even ones that don't have any interest in it, is just part of our sinful reality. it shows the marvelous saving mission of the Church even more. Also, if you have an aspect to you that for politically correct reasons keeps people from identifying your activities you are home free. This is the great beauty of Catholicism too. There is always the great forgiveness that comes with confession. Three Hail Marys and Two Our Fathers does the trick.
If you want to join an RCIA class just let me know.
