Dalai Lama: MLK site sad, inspirational

The Dalai Lama says his visit to the site where the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated was sad but also inspirational, the Associated Press is reporting.

In Memphis on Wednesday to receive the International Freedom Award from the National Civil Rights Museum, the Tibet spiritual leader toured the site with the Rev. Samuel Kyles, who was with King when he was gunned down, and Museum Board Chairman Benjamin L. Hooks.

The Dalai Lama draped a white shawl over a wreath that hangs over the balcony that marks the spot where King was standing when he was shot in 1968.

The embryos under consideration are devoid of the one Human quality that cannot be denied as necessary for being fully Human, and that is self awareness. These are embryos that, short of being used for research and to develop stem cells, would be wasted otherwise, with their awareness of their loss being far beyond possible, even at a much more advanced stage of development. There has to be another element that precludes their use in such research that can scientifically be justified, that would make flushing them preferable to using them to heal suffering of very self-aware people, or the argument against their use just becomes another religious condition that the Church, or any religion, would try to oppose on the totality of society to satisfy their religions prejudices and deeply held misconceptions (no pun intended).

Robert - I'm guessing you posted this on the wrong blog? You were probably looking for the stem cell one.

Ravensfan, You've driven Robert clean out of his mind or let's just postulate Robert started to gawk at holy man Dalai Lama and hypnotized he posted in the wrong place. Robert may not believe in God but he admires holy men--especially the Dalai Lama--what a fascinating thought. As for you Ravensfan, I wonder if you took Robert on about these stem cells--I suppose you are directing traffic for him so you can take him on at the right place--I'll move to the stem cell blog and discover if you both clashed there. Chow.
