America called 'Judeo-Christian-Muslim society'
Some 3,000 Muslims attended a Juma prayer service on the grounds of the Capitol last week, The Washington Times reports, a gathering that participants called historic.
"Islam is part of America," Amina Haqq said. "It is not a Judeo-Christian society; it is a Judeo-Christian-Muslim society."
Rally organizer Abdul Malik praised American freedom.
"What we've done today, you couldn't do in any Muslim country," the Brooklyn imam said. "If you prayed on the palace lawn there, they'd lock you up."
The Washington Times story refers to "the taunts of Christian evangelists on the surrounding sidewalks" but provides no details; the comments section, though, has plenty.

Maybe the president can go pray with the man caught planning the chlorine attacks in New York. What we see is a society getting closer each day to the end, when Christ returns to take His church with Him and the world suffers great tribulation. Any religion can be in vogue at any minute. If they are going to call it a Judeo/Christian/Muslim society why not include Hindu's or other religions? Fact is, this country was founded by Christians on Christian principles, and that is why we have been blessed.

Clay why the Obama cheap shot? As a Christian myself I don't agree with their beliefs, but they have the same right as you or I or even our favorite atheist Robert to express them. BTW the country was founded on the rights of all people to feel safe from unjust persecution from the state because of their beliefs. The fact that many were of Christian beliefs doesn't make this a Christian nation then or now.

The fact that we follow Christ now or not makes us successful or unsuccessful. Thanks.

We have been blessed Clay--in this economic climate? This country, like all countries on Earth, has had its ups and downs--nothing to do with God or the Devil although for you Clay all roads lead to one or the other. This country is a secular country--if it is not, it should be. It is an affront to call it anything else. And you are right, if it can be called a Judeo-Christian-Muslim country, it may as well be called a Judeo-Christian-Muslim-Buddhist-Sikhist -Hindu-Bahai-animist country. Wow! That would put you in the hospital with symptoms similar to H1N1 Clay. Take care--religious fervor kills and religious fanaticism is the deadly equivalent of chlorine.

Clay following Christ doesn't necessarily make us successful in this life. Christ promised his followers quite the opposite in fact. This country was founded on the rights and freedoms of all being respected.

In response to “Anonymous | September 28, 2009 3:44 PM" post.
You are 100% right, about this country being a secular country now. But it was intentionally constructed that way by a God Loving People who were seeking an end to the religious persecution and Government Control (The Pursuit of Happiness).
I happen to be a follower of Jesus Christ and my Lord teaches me to Love my Neighbor (all peoples regardless of their beliefs) as myself for all of us are a creation of the all Mighty, and fear God for only God has the power over life and death everlasting. I do realize there are fanatics in every religion including my own and believe they will all be in for a surprise when they meet their maker.
I do however wish let you know how extremely Hypocritical you sound when people like yourself spew anti-religious and Atheistic rhetoric claiming no religion when you’re obvious contempt and hatred for people that believe in something greater then themselves is a religion in itself. Please wake up and smell what you shoveling before you find yourself a card carrying member of a fanatical religion yourselves.
Actually I admire what I believe drives most people like you to speak out against injustice and inequality across the Globe and within our own free Country. I just wish you would put half the effort into seeking the Truth about God and you would find that God Stands for Love, Peace, Equality, Life, Justice, and did I say Love? You might actually find that you have a lot in common with the true Jesus of the Bible not the one depicted by the Lies of the devil.
I would also like to leave everyone with a few things to contemplate.
The Greatest Lie the devil ever told was that he didn’t exists.
Atheism is the true religion of hate.
Man is not perfect, therefore fallible, don’t trust him or me!
Seek the Truth for yourself.
Trust in the God of Reconciliation not Hate.
God Bless everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why did God allow us to be attacked on 9/11? Because we arent following Him. He may be saying, "it isnt your military or industrial power that makes you strong, America, it is I who makes you strong." You can see this by the targets attacked. The farther we drift from Him, the more problems we have, even though he never promises us a trouble free life. Our current president is a reflection of a society that doesnt support Christ, and he is more evidence of our punishment.

Clay - I think you are really going out on a limb here. How do you know God allowed us to be attacked on 9/11? What are you basing this on? Please don't quote the OT.
I can’t wait to see how Robert or his new follower respond to your suggestion.
Posted by: ravensfan | September 30, 2009 10:04 AM
Ravensfan,
I may actually be YOUR new follower--someone who aspires to your intellectual level and for all you know before you and Robert ever hit these blogs I may have been wandering them as the resident atheist hunting down the theists--I can see how you decide leader versus follower though--all the incendiary talk from Robert, despite your protestations, have impressed you enough to place him on the top rung of the hierarchical ladder of atheists and me a few rungs below. You fancy sound and fury don't you? To which, I already know, you will reply, "I am sorry Anonymous if you feel put down by being called Robert's follower. I thought you would take it as a compliment! Don't you like Robert?" You are getting too predictable Ravensfan--invent another response if you can.
As for you Clay, you need a new church and a new pastor--your current pastor has you wrapped up in punishment, doom, gloom, hellfire and brimstone. Even by Christian archaisms, your brand is tottering on the brink of extinction. Are you not praying for the safety of this country every day Clay--"God bless America!" do you not whisper to the brightly burning stars upon your knees, godly soul that you are? God did not listen to your prayers Clay on 9/11? What happened, was He dead on that day?

Like it or not, the present world is coming to an end and Christ is returning. That doesnt sound like doom and gloom to me, unless you dont follow Him. Thanks.

Anonymous - I’m glad you find Robert and myself so entertaining. I don’t consider myself a great anything nor do I aspire to it. Our friend Robert is the one boasting of his many degrees and intellect over on the Sarah Palin blog. I actually ascribe to Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar’s concept “those who possess sufficient intellect say that they have none, but those who have none boast that they have a great deal”. The only reason that Robert merits any attention is his lack of respect for those who differ with his narrow view of the world. I have no idea or concern for where he falls on the hierarchical ladder of atheists. You and he can debate that topic on your own. I’m also not concerned for how predictable you think I am.
Posted by: ravensfan | October 1, 2009 10:27 AM
Clay how do you know the present world is coming to an end? No one knows when the time will come. Only the most foolish would be false prophets have ever claimed to know when that would occur.
Posted by: ravensfan | October 1, 2009 11:24 AM
According to the bible, only God the Father knows when Christ will return. I do know that most, if not all, of the bible's prophecies for the future have been fulfilled. The modern world as we know it is ending. Thanks.
Posted by: Clay | October 1, 2009 12:32 PM
Clay - How exactly do you know that "that most, if not all, of the bible's prophecies for the future have been fulfilled"?
Without some elaboration and support you sound like the boy who cried wolf.
Posted by: ravensfan | October 1, 2009 3:37 PM
You are kidding? The bible says that many will come in Christ's name saying that they are He. Look at people like Charles Manson. It says that people will be slanderers and backbiters, lovers of money, etc. We certainly see that. Sure it has gone on since the world began. The point is that is has gotten worse. I remember in the 50's when people were civil in public to one another, when a girl wasnt proud to be pregnant and had to leave town, when drug use was rare and matters were kept out of court and settled between neighbors when possible. Youth were expected to obey their parents and teachers and not act out because some crazy person in the media or on the internet did so. There is a huge difference, and it is getting worse. David Letterman telling people that he has had affairs with several women staffers and people laughing. If you mentioned something like that on Ed Sullivan's show he would ban you from it. You are kidding right?
Posted by: Clay | October 2, 2009 9:38 AM
Clay I could ask you the same thing. You mention many will come in Christ’s name and then actually on mention once crazed lunatic. I wasn’t alive in the 50’s, but I seem to remember that it wasn’t all sunshine and roses. There was racial segregation, McCarthyism and the Cold War as well as the Korean War. Didn’t hardcore religious conservatives consider advent of Rock & Roll to be a sign of the coming of the end? I heard my grandparents gloom and doom about how things were better when they were younger and how bad they had gotten in the 70’s and 80’s. It sounded pretty much the same as your message. Every generation has had it’s problems. You need to seriously get a grip and stop over reacting. If the church you go to is preaching such messages you might do well to find another one.

Not even a hint of nudity in most movies then and now people having sex on prime time tv for all to see? You are kidding right? The disciples asked Christ what would be the signs of the end of the ages. It is all in the bible. Thanks.
Posted by: Clay | October 2, 2009 4:15 PM
Clay I’m well aware of what is in the Bible on the subject. I suspect you are the onw who isn’t. Your latest example is the weakest yet. Nothing you have said even remotely comes close to supporting your Armageddon predictions. Instead of asking me if I know the Bible why don’t you show me that you know it and provide some Biblical support for your prediction? I’m still waiting on you to relate Christ’s Biblical signs to current times. Nudity on TV wasn’t one of them. Seriously Clay you are misinterpreting Scripture big time. If that’s coming from your church I’d strongly suggest you find another.
Posted by: ravensfan | October 5, 2009 10:37 AM
Christ is coming back because of nudity on prime time TV--that's rich. I hope the good Lord enjoys Himself. Who knows He may get recruited by various reality TV shows as an antidote to immorality--an alter ego to the Octo-mom if you will. Ravensfan, I see you have left the belligerence of your nemesis Robert Littel and you are trying to infuse some sense in Clay the doctrinaire. Wow that rhymes--the two--the name and the word belong together.

Anonymous –You seem unable to make any post without mentioning my name. Oh well if that’s the only way you feel able to differentiate yourself I’ll just live with being part of your signature. Here’s a thought maybe you could make it your id. You know Ravensfan’s Anonymous. It would save you some typing. As for Clay and Robert they’re simply the opposite ends of extremism. Robert who arrogantly and rudely attacks anyone opposed to his atheist dogma. Then there’s Clay who apologetically and naively proclaims his own conservative Christian dogma. Of the two Clay is the least offensive because he has better manners than Robert.

Bravo Ravensfan--my sentiments exactly. By the way, Ravensfan, you are a good writer--you are not given to flights of fancy--so you will never be the Georgia O'Keefe of the writing world but you are tenacious like a leech--except Robert Littel will never be exsanguinated. Thank God you don't spell POLL as POLE. I love these blogs for the slaughter of homonyms.

Well Christ certainly isnt coming back because of nudity on tv. Satan would love that one wouldnt he? These things are just some of the signs of the times that we see that point to the end of the ages mentioned by Christ and in the book of Revelations. Thanks.

Anonymous or should I say Ravensfan's Anonymous - I have no realistic expectation that Roberts's flow of extremism could ever be drained away. That’s probably equally true with our friend Clay and his simple minded theology as well. I had to look up exsanguinated. I hadn’t heard seen that word before. Creative writing isn’t exactly one of my strengths. Thankfully with technology it's easier to enhance it as well as check the basics. I’m sure somewhere I’ve slaughtered a few homonyms. Your skills in this area or far better than mine so I salute you.

Clay – All the signs mentioned in the Bible are vague enough that the can be, and have been, used to make that claim at almost any time frame in history. You still haven’t really provided any meaningful or compelling evidence to suggest that we are coming up on it. If said long enough it will be true, just as a broken clock is right twice a day.
