Warren to Muslims: Let's work together
In an appearanced criticized by some of his fellow conservative Christians, megachurch Pastor Rick Warren told several thousand American Muslims over the weekend that "the two largest faiths on the planet" must work together to combat stereotypes and solve global problems, the Associated Press is reporting.
"Some problems are so big you have to team tackle them," Warren, author of The Purpose-Driven Life, told the annual convention of the Islamic Society of North America. He said Muslims and Christians should be partners in working to end what he calls "the five global giants" of war, poverty, corruption, disease and illiteracy.
The Christian Post quoted Warren, the founder of Saddelback Church in Orange County, Calif., as saying he was "not interested in interfaith dialogue.
"I am interested in interfaith project. There is a big difference,” he said.
“Talk is very cheap. You can talk and talk and talk and never get anything done. Love is something you do,” Warren maintained. “It is something we do together.”
The Associated Press called Warren's willingness to show support for U.S. Muslims, under intense scrutiny since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, "a huge gain for the community."

Wish you best of luck dear Warren; hopefully it will be more than talk.
It is encouraging to see that Holy Spirit is guiding more & more influential people in same direction.

Koran calls westerners (mainly Jews, Christians and nontheists) infidels or Kaffirs; cruel, deceptive and hypocrite infidels or unbelievers.
Koran 2:39
YUSUFALI: "But those who reject Faith and belie Our Signs, they shall be companions of the Fire; they shall abide therein."
PICKTHAL: But they who disbelieve, and deny Our revelations, such are rightful Peoples of the Fire. They will abide therein.
SHAKIR: And (as to) those who disbelieve in and reject My communications, they are the inmates of the fire, in it they shall abide.
Kaffirs are the worst beast in the eyes of Allah, the Islamic God.
Koran 8:55
Lo! the worst of beasts in Allah's sight are the ungrateful who will not believe.
The Gods of the Jews and Christians of the West are false who lead them to darkness. Koran 2:258
YUSUFALI: Hast thou not Turned thy vision to one who disputed with Abraham About his Lord, because Allah had granted him power? Abraham said: "My Lord is He Who Giveth life and death." He said: "I give life and death". Said Abraham: "But it is Allah that causeth the sun to rise from the east: Do thou then cause him to rise from the West." Thus was he confounded who (in arrogance) rejected faith. Nor doth Allah Give guidance to a people unjust.
PICKTHAL: Bethink thee of him who had an argument with Abraham about his Lord, because Allah had given him the kingdom; how, when Abraham said: My Lord is He Who giveth life and causeth death, he answered: I give life and cause death. Abraham said: Lo! Allah causeth the sun to rise in the East, so do thou cause it to come up from the West. Thus was the disbeliever abashed. And Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk.
SHAKIR: Have you not considered him (Namrud) who disputed with Ibrahim about his Lord, because Allah had given him the kingdom? When Ibrahim said: My Lord is He who gives life and causes to die, he said: I give life and cause death. Ibrahim said: So surely Allah causes the sun to rise from the east, then make it rise from the west; thus he who disbelieved was confounded; and Allah does not guide aright the unjust people.
Kaffirs are deceptive and liars
Koran 3:23
YUSUFALI: Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who have been given a portion of the Book? They are invited to the Book of Allah, to settle their dispute, but a party of them Turn back and decline (The arbitration).
PICKTHAL: Hast thou not seen how those who have received a portion of the Scripture invoke the Scripture of Allah (in their disputes) that it may judge between them; then a faction of them turn away, being opposed (to it)? SHAKIR: Have you not considered those (Jews) who are given a portion of the Book? They are invited to the Book of Allah that it might decide between them, then a part of them turn back and they withdraw.
Kaffirs are wrongdoers
Koran 2:254
YUSUFALI: O ye who believe! Spend out of (the bounties) We have provided for you, before the Day comes when no bargaining (Will avail), nor friendship nor intercession. Those who reject Faith they are the wrong-doers.
PICKTHAL: O ye who believe! spend of that wherewith We have provided you ere a day come when there will be no trafficking, nor friendship, nor intercession. The disbelievers, they are the wrong-doers.
SHAKIR: O you who believe! spend out of what We have given you before the day comes in which there is no bargaining, neither any friendship nor intercession, and the unbelievers-- they are the unjust.
Kaffirs must not be taken as friends and contacts must be avoided at all costs.
Koran 3:28
YUSUFALI: Let not the believers Take for friends or helpers Unbelievers rather than believers: if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah: except by way of precaution, that ye may Guard yourselves from them. But Allah cautions you (To remember) Himself; for the final goal is to Allah.
PICKTHAL: Let not the believers take disbelievers for their friends in preference to believers. Whoso doeth that hath no connection with Allah unless (it be) that ye but guard yourselves against them, taking (as it were) security. Allah biddeth you beware (only) of Himself. Unto Allah is the journeying.
SHAKIR: Let not the believers take the unbelievers for friends rather than believers; and whoever does this, he shall have nothing of (the guardianship of) Allah, but you should guard yourselves against them, guarding carefully; and Allah makes you cautious of (retribution from) Himself; and to Allah is the eventual coming.
Muslims must not associate with their own kindred (son, parents and wives) if they do not submit to Allah
Koran 58:22
YUSUFALI: Thou wilt not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, loving those who resist Allah and His Messenger, even though they were their fathers or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred. For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with a spirit from Himself. And He will admit them to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow, to dwell therein (for ever). Allah will be well pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the Party of Allah. Truly it is the Party of Allah that will achieve Felicity.
PICKTHAL: Thou wilt not find folk who believe in Allah and the Last Day loving those who oppose Allah and His messenger, even though they be their fathers or their sons or their brethren or their clan. As for such, He hath written faith upon their hearts and hath strengthened them with a Spirit from Him, and He will bring them into Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide. Allah is well pleased with them, and they are well pleased with Him. They are Allah's party. Lo! is it not Allah's party who are the successful?
SHAKIR: You shall not find a people who believe in Allah and the latter day befriending those who act in opposition to Allah and His Messenger, even though they were their (own) fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their kinsfolk; these are they into whose hearts He has impressed faith, and whom He has strengthened with an inspiration from Him: and He will cause them to enter gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein; Allah is well-pleased with them and they are well-pleased with Him these are Allah's party: now surely the party of Allah are the successful ones.
Such kindred are their enemies.
Koran 64.14
YUSUFALI: O ye who believe! Truly, among your wives and your children are (some that are) enemies to yourselves: so beware of them! But if ye forgive and overlook, and cover up (their faults), verily Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
PICKTHAL: O ye who believe! Lo! among your wives and your children there are enemies for you, therefor beware of them. And if ye efface and overlook and forgive, then lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
SHAKIR: O you who believe! surely from among your wives and your children there is an enemy to you; therefore beware of them; and if you pardon and forbear and forgive, then surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
Muhammad did not only propagate a derogatory and demeaning doctrine against the Kaffirs of today, he also incited violence and ordered his followers to wage wars against them. Muslims must fight the infidels, who are the minions of the devil.
Koran 4:76
YUSUFALI: Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who reject Faith Fight in the cause of Evil: So fight ye against the friends of Satan: feeble indeed is the cunning of Satan.
PICKTHAL: Those who believe do battle for the cause of Allah; and those who disbelieve do battle for the cause of idols. So fight the minions of the devil. Lo! the devil's strategy is ever weak.
SHAKIR: Those who believe fight in the way of Allah, and those who disbelieve fight in the way of the Shaitan. Fight therefore against the friends of the Shaitan; surely the strategy of the Shaitan is weak.
Muslims must not take the infidels as friends and unless the latter offer peace, they must be killed wherever the Muslims find them
Koran 4:49
YUSUFALI: Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who claim sanctity for themselves? Nay-but Allah Doth sanctify whom He pleaseth. But never will they fail to receive justice in the least little thing.
PICKTHAL: Hast thou not seen those who praise themselves for purity? Nay, Allah purifieth whom He will, and they will not be wronged even the hair upon a date-stone.
SHAKIR: Have you not considered those who attribute purity to themselves? Nay, Allah purifies whom He pleases; and they shall not be wronged the husk of a date stone.
Koran 4:91
YUSUFALI: Others you will find that wish to gain your confidence as well as that of their people: Every time they are sent back to temptation, they succumb thereto: if they withdraw not from you nor give you (guarantees) of peace besides restraining their hands, seize them and slay them wherever ye get them: In their case We have provided you with a clear argument against them.
PICKTHAL: Ye will find others who desire that they should have security from you, and security from their own folk. So often as they are returned to hostility they are plunged therein. If they keep not aloof from you nor offer you peace nor hold their hands, then take them and kill them wherever ye find them. Against such We have given you clear warrant.
SHAKIR: You will find others who desire that they should be safe from you and secure from their own people; as often as they are sent back to the mischief they get thrown into it headlong; therefore if they do not withdraw from you, and (do not) offer you peace and restrain their hands, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them; and against these We have given you a clear authority.
Muslims must fight the infidels with determination, they must not retreat in the fight and those who retreat will be condemned by Allah to the fire of hell
Koran 8:15-16
YUSUFALI: O ye who believe! when ye meet the Unbelievers in hostile array, never turn your backs to them.
PICKTHAL: O ye who believe! When ye meet those who disbelieve in battle, turn not your backs to them.
SHAKIR: O you who believe! when you meet those who disbelieve marching for war, then turn not your backs to them.
YUSUFALI: If any do turn his back to them on such a day - unless it be in a stratagem of war, or to retreat to a troop (of his own)- he draws on himself the wrath of Allah, and his abode is Hell,- an evil refuge (indeed)!
PICKTHAL: Whoso on that day turneth his back to them, unless manoeuvring for battle or intent to join a company, he truly hath incurred wrath from Allah, and his habitation will be hell, a hapless journey's end.
SHAKIR: And whoever shall turn his back to them on that day-- unless he turn aside for the sake of fighting or withdraws to a company-- then he, indeed, becomes deserving of Allah's wrath, and his abode is hell; and an evil destination shall it be.
Muslims must fight the infidels, they must not let the latter escape.
Koran 8:59-60
YUSUFALI: Let not the unbelievers think that they can get the better (of the godly): they will never frustrate (them).
PICKTHAL: And let not those who disbelieve suppose that they can outstrip (Allah's Purpose). Lo! they cannot escape.
SHAKIR: And let not those who disbelieve think that they shall come in first; surely they will not escape.
YUSUFALI: Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of Allah, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly.
PICKTHAL: Make ready for them all thou canst of (armed) force and of horses tethered, that thereby ye may dismay the enemy of Allah and your enemy, and others beside them whom ye know not. Allah knoweth them. Whatsoever ye spend in the way of Allah it will be repaid to you in full, and ye will not be wronged.
SHAKIR: And prepare against them what force you can and horses tied at the frontier, to frighten thereby the enemy of Allah and your enemy and others besides them, whom you do not know (but) Allah knows them; and whatever thing you will spend in Allah's way, it will be paid back to you fully and you shall not be dealt with unjustly.
and they must seek out, lay in wait to ambush, seize and slay the latter wherever found Koran 9:5
YUSUFALI: But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
PICKTHAL: Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. SHAKIR: So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
Muslims must fight the infidels whoever live near to them and show harshness to them. Koran 9:123
YUSUFALI: O ye who believe! fight the unbelievers who gird you about, and let them find firmness in you: and know that Allah is with those who fear Him.
PICKTHAL: O ye who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are near to you, and let them find harshness in you, and know that Allah is with those who keep their duty (unto Him).
SHAKIR: O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness; and know that Allah is with those who guard (against evil).
They must fight the infidels in Allah's cause and in the process they will slay the infidels and be slain themselves.
Koran 9:111
YUSUFALI: Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur'an: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme.
PICKTHAL: Lo! Allah hath bought from the believers their lives and their wealth because the Garden will be theirs: they shall fight in the way of Allah and shall slay and be slain. It is a promise which is binding on Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. Who fulfilleth His covenant better than Allah? Rejoice then in your bargain that ye have made, for that is the supreme triumph.
SHAKIR: Surely Allah has bought of the believers their persons and their property for this, that they shall have the garden; they fight in Allah's way, so they slay and are slain; a promise which is binding on Him in the Taurat and the Injeel and the Quran; and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? Rejoice therefore in the pledge which you have made; and that is the mighty achievement.
If they refuse to fight the infidels, they will be afflicted with painful doom by Allah.
Koran 9:39
YUSUFALI: Unless ye go forth, He will punish you with a grievous penalty, and put others in your place; but Him ye would not harm in the least. For Allah hath power over all things.
PICKTHAL: If ye go not forth He will afflict you with a painful doom, and will choose instead of you a folk other than you. Ye cannot harm Him at all. Allah is Able to do all things.
SHAKIR: If you do not go forth, He will chastise you with a painful chastisement and bring in your place a people other than you, and you will do Him no harm; and Allah has power over all things.
When Muslims meet the infidels, they must strike off the latter's heads, until they have made a great slaughter amongst the infidels
Koran 47:4
YUSUFALI: Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah's Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their deeds be lost.
PICKTHAL: Now when ye meet in battle those who disbelieve, then it is smiting of the necks until, when ye have routed them, then making fast of bonds; and afterward either grace or ransom till the war lay down its burdens. That (is the ordinance). And if Allah willed He could have punished them (without you) but (thus it is ordained) that He may try some of you by means of others. And those who are slain in the way of Allah, He rendereth not their actions vain.
SHAKIR: So when you meet in battle those who disbelieve, then smite the necks until when you have overcome them, then make (them) prisoners, and afterwards either set them free as a favor or let them ransom (themselves) until the war terminates. That (shall be so); and if Allah had pleased He would certainly have exacted what is due from them, but that He may try some of you by means of others; and (as for) those who are slain in the way of Allah, He will by no means allow their deeds to perish.
In a nutshell, Muslims must fight, kill and slew infidels until the latter have submitted to Islam or subdued to the status of humiliation and agree to pay Jizya taxes for not accepting Islam.
Koran 09:05
Koran-9:29
YUSUFALI: Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.
PICKTHAL: Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture as believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden by His messenger, and follow not the Religion of Truth, until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low.
SHAKIR: Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Messenger have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection.
Muslims must not only fight, kill and slay the infidels, after they have attacked and defeated an infidel tribe, village or country; they must capture the remaining women and children as slaves/captives and take possession of their homes, land and wealth.
Koran 33:26-27
YUSUFALI: And those of the People of the Book who aided them - Allah did take them down from their strongholds and cast terror into their hearts. (So that) some ye slew, and some ye made prisoners.
PICKTHAL: And He brought those of the People of the Scripture who supported them down from their strongholds, and cast panic into their hearts. Some ye slew, and ye made captive some.
SHAKIR: And He drove down those of the followers of the Book who backed them from their fortresses and He cast awe into their hearts; some you killed and you took captive another part.
After that Muslims have the right to rape those captured women (right hand possession) through a divine revelation.
Koran 70.29-30 and
].
YUSUFALI: And those who guard their chastity,
PICKTHAL: And those who preserve their chastity SHAKIR: And those who guard their private parts,
Koran 4:3
YUSUFALI: If ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, Marry women of your choice, Two or three or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or (a captive) that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice.
PICKTHAL: And if ye fear that ye will not deal fairly by the orphans, marry of the women, who seem good to you, two or three or four; and if ye fear that ye cannot do justice (to so many) then one (only) or (the captives) that your right hands possess. Thus it is more likely that ye will not do injustice.
SHAKIR: And if you fear that you cannot act equitably towards orphans, then marry such women as seem good to you, two and three and four; but if you fear that you will not do justice (between them), then (marry) only one or what your right hands possess; this is more proper, that you may not deviate from the right course.
These edicts, orders and responsibilities as allegedly revealed from Allah are meant for eternal application, until no other faith or unbelief is left.

I am of the opinion Rick Warren has to tackle the problem of his own obesity before he tackles the obese problems of this world. The man is swollen with self importance, what with presidents and other bigwigs inviting him to their ornate parlors to pray and quiz them. He imagines now he can join hands with one billion Muslims to attack global headaches that have festered for centuries. This man's ego will make him create trouble where there is none so he can then find a purpose in the troubles he creates for a purpose driven life. Put it to rest Warren! Give gay people a chance. Don't lie that you love them when you undermine their purpose. Can you not live in the shadow of the Saddleback Church quietly, guiding your flock, without assuming the role of politicians and presidents?

“Love is something you do” – what a great quote. It’s a beautiful reminder that interfaith work is not just about token “exchange” and respect from a distance. It should be a sincere investment in working together around practical, shared goals of social and global justice. It’s not possible for faiths to agree on everything (nor perhaps should they!), but what we can agree on, we must work together towards. Pastor Rick Warren is a in a powerful place in the Christian world to remind Christians to put aside differences and recognize that Muslims are not on the “other side”, but are brothers, sisters, and friends working towards the same goals .

Yusufali, Shakir and Pikthal are three unfathomable phenoms and you Fred Cornwell, with this posting, have found yourself an eternal spot in the caravan of clowns. What is Warren to do? Read your long quotes from the Holy Koran and withdraw his offer to Muslims? The man is a narcissist. He will shake hands with Yusufali, Pikthal and Shakir and invite them to a banquet at the Saddleback Church, then go with them to the White House to pray with Obama for comity in the Muslim world. Yusufali, Pikthal and Shakir will be wheedled with a piece each from the stimulus package; Warren will return home to Saddleback with a big chunk of the package himself and all will be well the world except Fred Cornwell, you'll be the only one left out for pointing out the fallacies in the Koran that make it impossible for Christians and Muslims to smooch with each other.

@Fred Conwell, @Anonymous,
So what do you think is the answer to the on going war all around the world? Holy war?
Is that what you believe?
It is much easy to sit on your nice couches & blame other religions, but it takes lot of courage to go forward & try to listen to the people of other faiths.
If someone is trying to be a human, why do you think you have a responsibility to drag him/her into the animal world, where you yourself feel comfortable?

Rick Warren is more of a politician than a pastor. All of this is going to happen until Christ returns, and there isnt much we can do about it. Like I said in another blog, the Muslim nation was created to be punishment for the Jews, and we can read all about it in Genesis. Just accept Christ and be prepared. Thanks.

John Nasir,
You belong in the animal world too--you are related to all the primates, as I am and as is Fred Cornwall. There is no shame in that Nasir. They are God's creatures and your sweet cousins and they have never plotted holy war against anyone. You think Rick Warren is going to solve the problem of holy wars? Warren is too bloated to go meet up with bin Laden or to partake of the spare and spartan troglodyte existence of the mad Taliban or other holy warriors. After having 3 full meals from a supermarket in America and belching from the pit of his stomach about a purpose driven life under some stage light or on Larry King Live the man probably goes to sleep each night in a NUMBERS BED set to soothe his back as he slumbers. As for me blaming other religions, I have done exactly the opposite in my posting to Fred Cornwall--I have told him his long and inflammatory postings from the Holy Koran won't deter Rick Warren from befriending even mythical figures like Yusufali, Shakir and Pikthal so he can make hay while the sun shines. Now if you have seen in that a criticism of some religion you've seen wrong. I listen to people of other faiths all day Nasir and that has done nothing to keep holy wars at bay. Don't you see it? All this mooching between those of various religions who don't own one IED to make holy war is nothing more than a bombastic waste of time. The ones who make holy war won't talk to Rick Warren until he coverts to Islam and shows them his life is truly purpose driven. Never the twain shall meet. So, Clay, a very divisive man of faith, to whom the apocalypse is within grabbing distance and the ecstasy of the Jesus embrace can be had for the asking if you covert to Christianity, is astonishingly accurate about Rick Warren. The man is nothing more than a politician. Thank you Clay for your wise assessment! You didn't find it by any chance in the BOOK of REVELATIONS did you?

Well no not in that book, but the bible says a lot about being prideful and the harm that comes from it. It isnt hard to tell when a pastor is being show offy and into what he and his church has accomplished, etc. My pastor mentioned losing his watch in the horse barn and the fact that he had to reach down into a pile of horse dung to retrieve it when he found it. Thats more like it, and that attitude is one of the main reasons I decided to stay at that church. It also happens to be a Baptist church that tells it like it is brother and sticks to what the word says in the bible. I think it is a shame that so many churches are off track. Pride in the pulpit? Pride in the congregation. Thanks.
