Manuel Rodriguez on list for Michigan school district superintendent's job

Manuel Rodriguez, who oversees middle schools in Baltimore County, is being interviewed this week for a job as superintendent in Ann Arbor, Michigan. An Ann Arbor website posted the story last night. The school system is a small one, with only 16,000 students.

UPDATE: Rodriguez was not one of the three finalists for the job.

Our fingers are crossed that he gets the job! I'll say all the nice things you want me to if the workload King and mini Dr. H dictator has a chance to leave BCPS. Anne Arbor folks- he's wonderful. He'll work collaboratively and is truly a team player. He has great data collection ideas too. Wink and nod!

How do people like this continually get offered promotions and new jobs? He came from an area in the county where the scores are the lowest, he has added ridiculous amounts of work at no benefit to students this year, and now they actually want him to work there? Not only should he not get that job, but there is also no data to justify his positon in BCPS. The county loves data unless it doesn't support what Dr. Hairston wants to arbitrarily do.

I think Mr Rodriguez would make an excellent Middle School Superintendent. He has the right background, skills and experience to excel and improve the student performance and administrative accountability.

Good luck Mr Rodriguez.

Ann Arbor is a beautiful place to live...I used to live there and really enjoyed it. I didn't have school age children when I lived there, but was impressed with the quality of K-12 public education in Washtenaw County. Godspeed to Mr. Rodriguez!
