School's out
Thanks to all the teachers, principals and parents who helped us find subjects to profile on the last day of school in Baltimore City and Baltimore County last week. From a student spending the summer visiting her grandmother in Greece to the closing of Harriet Tubman Elementary, we think they captured the excitement -- and sometimes sadness -- that the last day of school can bring.

Maybe you could do a story on all the stimulus dollars and the City Schools. I have a friend in the county and their principals have received notification of how much money they are getting - but nothing from the city - a lot of money sitting around not doing anything? Hmmmm sounds like a story to me.

School must be out, indeed - my wife and I were robbed of our bikes and physically threatened in Patterson Park on Monday afternoon just before 1pm by a group of seven 12-13 year-olds. Welcome to summer in the city, I guess.... Any initiatives related to extended school year in the works other than charters?

@ AOT -
The Recovery Act money for City Schools is being used to offset the cuts in Thorthon(sp) funding and keep the system afloat.
