A displaced BCPSS employee looks for work

An excellent blog entry by Baltimore Diary (even if he does say that InsideEd conversations lately have been "more chaff than wheat" -- ouch!) about his experience at the Baltimore school system job fair on Saturday.

I am sorry you and all the others were treated so badly. They suck, they all suck and the lack of humanity in the way Central Office continues to view and treat staff across the system destroys morale and trickles down to the classroom. Oh yes, AA, it is all about the children.

This is exactly what happened last year. HR didn't understand the budget process, schools didn't know who they could hire and on it goes and people who did their jobs well were caught in no mans land wondering how they were going to make a living. The BTU was silent last year too!

The hard working indiviudals who find themselves in this situation are not newbies but are rather individuals who have given loyal service to the students and city of Baltimore for many years. They deserve better!

His blog was an amazing read! Some parts made me gape in horror and other parts had me giggling at his sense of humor. He seems to be taking it all in stride despite the apparent mis-management of the day. I was supposed to be there too and so now I'm happy that I opted to do some gardening instead.

@Merry Alterman: Please don't make a blanket statement about those who work at central. I would never want to make a blanket statement about schools or the teachers in them.

(I wonder who will be blamed for all the ills when central no longer exists?)
