This is SAD! VERY SAD! It is an insult to all the teachers in Maryland! We have thousands of excellent teachers and they should be recognized and thanked.

I was saddened to see the post from DMWorsley which stated, "This is SAD! VERY SAD! It is an insult to all the teachers in Maryland...." You are right, we do have thousands of amazing teachers in Maryland and in a perfect world, we would be able to pay them all what they deserve and thank them all with awards. However, the society in which we live does not allow that and kudos to Maryland for having one of the most wonderful and supportive Teacher of the Year programs in the entire country. These teachers which are representing their schools, their colleagues and their students (as all teachers) work VERY HARD and for you to belittle that is what is really sad! Congratulations to ALL the Maryland Teachers of the Year, good luck to the finalists and thanks to all teachers in this great state!
