Teachers + Soulja Boy
Sure, teachers always chaperone at dances while students have all the fun.
But teachers at a Bel Air high school show they know how to roll.
Crank dat Soulja Boy.

I think teachers should think about the words in that song before getting in front of students and dancing? Honestly, are they clueless? Unbelievable... now only are "we" looking at this as appropriate, we're looking at it as if it's funny.
Public school teachers should not be dancing to possibly one of the most misogynistic songs on the radio today.

Bill,
You raise a very interesting point. An unrelated story I wrote in last Sunday's Ideas section about gay clubs playing hip-hop songs touches on this same issue. Many people are unaware of the lyrics and simply listen to the "dance-friendly" music.

Teachers, parents and others who care about the well-being of young people need to be aware of what is going on in their lives. The argot of our young people leaves many of us completely unaware of what is being communicated. When in doubt, a quick Google search for lyrics and a perusal of urbandictionary.com can be very enlightening.

Teachers, parents and others who care about children could learn a lot with a Google search for lyrics and a search of urbandictionary.com for translation. Trust me, it will be enlightening.
