Mother charged in death of 4 year old girl
Police said they have arrested and charged 33-year-old Lakeya Johnson in the death of her 4-year-old daughter, who officials said had suffered massive head trauma as a result of child abuse.
Dramiara Johnson had been taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital on Aug. 22 with significant head injuries, police said. Though family members told hospital staff that Dramiara had hit her head after falling during a "play fight" with her brother at a home in the 1700 block of Gorsuch Ave., the attending physician said that scenario did not match up with the child's injuries. She was taken off life support by the family on Aug. 27.
On Monday, police said every family member was a potential suspect and late Monday charged Johnson, of the 3000 block of Federal St., with child abuse resulting in death and related charges. She was being held on $1 million bond pending a bail review.
Court records show Johnson has been sought since November 2009 on a warrant charging her with attempted drug distribution after she failed to show for a court hearing. That warrant has now been served and a trial on those charges is set for Sept. 29. In 2000, Johnson was charged with a handgun violation, a charge that was dropped by prosecutors.

She's been wanted since November 2009 and she's only picked up after she beats her child to death? Nice.
May Dramiara rest in peace.

Mothers are more dangerous to their children than firearms are.

One look in her eyes tells you everything you need to know.

She should be given the death sentence, beaten to death with rubber mallets (do not want to be unusually cruel you know) and her organs donated to science, etc.

How many children have to die before they get this right? I do not understand why they always want to buckle down AFTER a child has died. She should be made to get her tubes tied and never be able to be a mother again!!

I'd have to respectfully disagree with you Sam. So far in 2011 in Baltimore City eight homicide victims were under the age of 18. Of those only one was killed by their mother, Dramiara Johnson. 6 were killed by gunfire: Marquis Hall, Steven Oglesby, Omar Johnson, Dominic Perry, Anthony Tarbert and Sean Johnson, and one was killed by stabbing, Dashawn Brown.

Maybe she'll take some college courses in prison and, when she's released, she can be a teacher in Baltimore City Public Schools.

Yet another criminal with an unserved warrant kills someone. No wonder everyone who can is fleeing the hell hole of a city.

i saw the father with his children, i see him with his babies all the time and he seems very nice and pleasant. I pray for the family but its strange how this happens people knew the mother where she lives but did nothing, this would'nt happen if she was in jail for the warrant the girls would always say hi.

Someone needs to sterilize this trash before she pops out more.

She was 4. Nothing a child at 4 could do to warrant such pain and terror inflicted by the hands that she called mother. God took her away long before she felt the pain. It is amazing that no one else in her family loved her enough to have got at the mother before police did; to lie. It is beyond words.

Thank you, A Community Member, I was wondering about the dad. If he is in the children's lives and being a respectable parent, then I wonder what the custody arrangement was. Did the mother have full custody, partial custody or some sort of visitation arrangement? The dad would have been the better parenting option, so why didn't he have the kids? I would like to know more about the state's role in allowing the mother to have the responsibility of her children.

i saw missy on a daily basis and she conducted herself like she didn't have any children and treated u with the upmost respect. i wish i would have known how bad a mother she was 2 her children because i would have saved her daughter and used her as the sacrifice. there are parents wanting these precious gifts that god bless us with and it's devil's like "missy" as she was known who don't deserve to own a dog. smdh

KEITH HAS BEEN A TERRIFIC FATHER GOING O WORK EVERYDAY AND RAISING HIS KIDS. THEY ARE DELIGHTFULLY BRIGHT ESPECIALLY THE LITTLE BOY. I SAW THE FATHER THE DAY BEFORE HIS DAUGHTERS FUNERAL, AND HE SAID THE NEXT THING WAS TO GET COUNSELING FOR HIS SON, HE SAW IT ALL. HIS KIDS LOVE HIM, THEY ALL RUN TO HIM WHEN HE COMES FROM WORK. HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN SOFT-SPOKEN. PLEASE KEEP THEM ALL IN YOUR PRAYERS

If you aren't going to take care of your kids, keep your legs closed or get surgery so you can't have any kids. Some people should not reproduce.

This is too sad! I grew up on Federal and my family lived 2 doors from the Johnsons. Keya was around 13 or 14 when she started smoking cigarettes and weed, and was on heroin by 16. She went down hill from there. I used to try to talk to her, but she would get very nasty and tell me to mind my f------ business. She used to be a cute girl but those drugs took over and her mother couldn't do nothing with her. She
had baby after baby after baby. I ran into her mother recently and we started talking. I asked about Keya and her brother. That's when her mom told me that some of her grandchildren were with her, and now I know why. Such a waste of life. I will continue to pray for her family and the rest of her children.
