It's kind of embarrassing to admit, loyal Caption Callers, but our anniversary has come and gone. It was one year ago this month (June 9, to be exact) that we put up our first photo, the Chest Bump to the Chief which took us on this wild journey into the realm of funny photos.

Lately we haven't been able to give as much time and dedication as we would have liked to the blog. We've been busy with the new baltimoresun.com redesign (which we know you've all checked out by now) and Caption Call suffered on the back burner.

Don't take this as a goodbye. We're just going out of town for a few days to reward ourselves for the long hours and many containers of eye drops we've used as our eyes have ached from staring at this computer screen for too long. We won't have a new photo up until Monday.

In our absence, feel free to check out the funnies on some of the older photos we've got and see if you've found some new inspiration.

On another note, as a way to celebrate our anniversary, loyal captioner Pie Snelson came up with the idea of a meetup, since it appears many of you already know one another (which is really cool to us, btw). Would you guys be willing to meet up (like a Tweetup, only cooler) for coffee or drinks or something in Baltimore? Just something low-key, but as a way to celebrate the blog that has given us (hopefully all of you, but definitely me) a source of daily fun? Thanks for the fun year, guys. Honestly, Caption Call has been one of the bright spots that makes coming to work worthwhile. Let's keep the fun going.

(By the way, you don't know how odd it is for us to write a blog post that isn't just a pithy headline on a photo. Whew!)
