Nikita recap: Into the Dark

Who moves faster, hits harder, and sleeps less? Why, a cleaner, of course. This week on Nikita, our girl had to deal with not one but two of these crazy characters including Owen Elliot, the former cleaner and black box guardian whose life Nikita saved despite the fact that he took out her ex, Daniel. Yes, these two have a sordid history, but that’s all in the past. Forgive and forget, right? Well, sort of.
What really is bringing them together is their common goal…finding the black boxes and taking down Division. Owen, in fact, returned because he had a lead on one of the boxes and its guardian and he wanted Nikita to help him get it. Unfortunately, Owen also has some personal issues, so Nikita asks Michael to give her a hand in case he goes wacko. With all three working together, what could possibly go wrong?
Hitting the London streets
To track down the black box and its keeper, Nikita and Owen head to London. They quickly locate the guardian’s storage unit and break-in for a peek. Considering that all guardians of black boxes are also cleaners, this guy has some pretty interesting trinkets in his unit including arsenals of acid, saws, rib cutters, and blood siphons (Sounds like he’s a real party).
After a few moments of poking around, Nikita realizes that they are being watched, and they escape before being blown to smithereens. The two then come up with a new plan to smoke out the guardian. Nikita also figures out why Owen is acting kind of bonkers. Turns out, he’s a pill popper thanks to Division, and now he’s running low and having major withdrawal symptoms. Despite his troubles, they head to a bank where they believe the guardian is hiding his box and presto…the guy walks out, box in hand. A huge foot chase ensues and then it’s cleaner versus cleaner, a major smack-down on the streets of London.
Luckily, Owen still has some chops, and despite a momentary lapse is able to throw the guardian into chilly waters (he survives) and nabs the black box. A happy ending…right? Not yet, you see, Nikita and Owen don’t agree about one thing: what to do with the black boxes. Nikita wants to destroy them, but Owen wants to make the information on them public. Because Owen now has the box, Nikita senses trouble. But Michael is right around the corner to lend a helping hand.
Michael, our hero
With box in hand, Owen wastes no time trying to retrieve the scandalous information. Unfortunately, he forgot one thing. He needs a dab of blood from the box’s guardian to get it open. Woops. To solve this problem, he casually calls Percy letting him track his location at a church. Percy reacts as planned and sends a strike team, including the guardian, to retrieve the box and take out Owen. Michael, who Percy also sent to London earlier, is hanging with Nikita when he intercepts the call for troops. The two head to the church to mop up the mess. When they get there, Owen has already successfully slayed everyone, opened the box using the guardian’s blood, and is about to send the details into cyberspace when Michael saves the day. After the trio has a major brawl session, Michael retrieves his gun and is able to annihilate the box with one shot. With nothing else to fight about, everyone makes up and heads their separate ways. Unfortunately, our girl doesn’t get a parting kiss from Michael like last week, but she does get a touching apology from Owen regarding Daniel.
Mind games with Amanda
Alex also had to deal with some former adversaries this week. While at Division headquarters, she runs into Amanda. Amanda asks her to debrief Jaden regarding a recent mission that went wrong. Alex reluctantly agrees and during the interrogation some of her secrets come out. Already suspicious of Alex, Amanda orders Alex to take a lie detector test and of course, she fails. But, don’t worry… our girl has learned from the best and in no time, is able to weave a partially true tale regarding Thom and, ultimately, pass the test. Amanda is still not satisfied and contacts Michael to back up her story regarding Thom. To Alex’s surprise he does, and for the moment, Amanda seems appeased. Well, kind of. She still recommends that Alex be canceled. But Percy disagrees and Miss A gets to stick around for another week.
