Glee Podcast: "Never Been Kissed"

Listen Now

Janine and I narrowly avoid coming to blows when she utters the unthinkable in our Glee podcast. How can you be tired of Kurt, I ask you? HOW? Once that particular situation is defused, we talk about Puck's return, Artie's offer, Beiste's own heartbreak, and yes, Kurt's first kiss. Oh, the heartbreak! Ryan Murphy, you totally Kripke'd us! Plus, we discuss making Katie Perry palatable, Puck's way with the ladies, Mike's emerging awesomeness, and the impending arrival of Gwyneth.

Hi ladies!

I just wanted to say that I love the podcast and I've started to get very excited about Gwyneth Paltrow on Glee this week!
I just wanted to make one comment, but first let me say that the differing opinions on your podcast are appreciated.
Regarding Kurt and his sense of entitlement. I was thinking the same thing initially, but after hearing you guys talk about it, my opinion shifted a little for two reasons. First of all the "sense of entitlement" is seen to varying degrees in a lot of the kids. For example, Rachel, who I love as much as Kurt (and they are quite similar). How many times have we seen her feeling entitled to a solo? Or in a more related context, the boys. When Will assigned the WHOLE club to do Lady Gaga, it was Finn (on behalf of the guys) who decided that Will should alter the assignment to accommodate them. The only difference here is that Will didn't give Finn the same refusal he gave Kurt initially.
The other thing that occurred to me is that you mentioned he was singing it to his friends. But, really, look at who most of the Glee guys are. Right now, they are ALL football players, two of them have a history of tossing him in dumpsters and throwing pee balloons at him. And, yes, while this is all in the past, we still saw in the episode that he was the one doing the work (picking the songs and coming up with the costumes) they were totally making fun of his suggestions. See Artie's sequin ball gown comment and Puck telling him to “make himself useful” and go spy on the other team.
Now while I understand that the boys may not be thrilled with the costumes, compromise and flexibility are foundations of teamwork, not ridicule. As stubborn as Kurt is (and believe me, he is NOT without flaws) we saw during the last boy mash-up, he cooperated and did the Bon Jovi/Usher songs, and wore their clothing choices, but he's not being shown the same consideration.
Just my two-cents!
Keep up the awesome work!!!
Ellie :)
