The Vampire Diaries: Season Finale Shockers
OMG this week's Vampire Diaries had us on the edge of our seats the whole time. Our first honest reaction was this: SQUEEEEEEEEE! We are not ashamed of our inner fangirl and suspect we will suffer horrible withdrawals in the months to come until our beloved Mystic Falls characters come back to play.
Here's the quick rundown of what made us swoon, squeal, and gasp.
* Damon and Stefan see Elena dressed as Katherine, and Damon is this close to swooning himself. Or whatever it is guys do when their knees get weak and their breath is taken away.
* Anna gives Jeremy her blood and asks him to turn himself into a vampire and run away with her.
* The founders and the tomb vampires are like the Capulets and Montagues with less florid speech and are going to have their rumble during the fireworks display.
* Damon becomes quite human with all that emotion and sense of right and wrong and dammit, now we're fully in love with him, too. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we know this isn't news to you.
* John doesn't just leave Anna to die a firey death like the other vamps, he fully stakes her. With relish.
* After proclaiming her love for Stefan over and over again, Elena kisses Damon back. And it was super sweet and hot at the same time.
* At long last we get confirmation that the mayor, well, now, former mayor was a were and that Tyler is too. Apparently John Gilbert's device emitted a frequency that all paranormals hear, not just the vamps.
* OH SNAP! IT WAS KATHERINE!!! She then encouraged John Gilbert to say Farewell to Arms...and probably offed him entirely. That Katherine is crafty, what with the finagling the invitation inside and all.
* Jeremy drinks Anna's blood and takes too many of Elena's pain pills. Something tells us he'll just need his stomach pumped more than he'll need to avoid sunlight in the future. But we could be wrong. At least his uncle won't be around to be mad at him, whatever the outcome.

Younger brothers always need advice. Jeremy took a big step at the end of the episode, and can we blame him? Parents brutally murdered? Check. Girlfriend #1 turned into a vampire and then killed? Check. Sister betrays him by erasing his memory of the event? Check. Girlfriend #2 staked by despised uncle? Check.
Speaking of the despised uncle, there seems to be consequences afoot for him, what with Katherine's reappearance and her removing his fingers (and ring) from his person. Seems that he's made some enemies in the vamp camp.
Now this business of the slowly growing tension between Elena and Damon is coming to a head for sure. We were simultaneously dismayed and thrilled when Elena and Damon kissed, and were simultaneously relieved and disappointed when it turned out to be Katherine. We sort of feel sorry for Damon that he's going to be carrying around the weight of the guilt over something he didn't really do and of which Elena has no knowledge.
TVD, we will sorely miss you while you rest, and will count the days until your return.

this is kayleen again OMG season two is incredible but someone better stake katherine the bitch is getting on my nerves caroline is a vampire and tyler is a wolf jeremy never became a vampire rose and someother guy kidnapped elena damon and stefan saved her rose and damon had sex then damon pizzed off some she wolf then she bit rose now rose is on some uncontrolable blood frenzy and january 27th the show comes back cant wait 2 see what happens next!!!!

Okay I was wrong before when I said that Katherind didn't have the necklace on. She did have a necklace on but it wasn't the necklace Stephen gave Elena. The chain wasn't the same. Also when you look closely when you watch the episode again you see that when Damon kisses her,Elena/Katherine kind of has this look on her face that seems to be disgusted or something. Like she is forcing herslef to do kiss him, not because she wants to.
Damon should have picked that up because her mouth went away from his and yeah nobody kisses the same way. It shows that Katherine doesn't love Damon either. So it sort of proved that it wasn't Elena. But it was sweet how Damon seemed to really want to have Elena and how much he seemed to put into the kiss. I don't know. It was a perfect kiss if not for the fact that it wasn't even Elena. Does anyone know when the Vampire Diaries is coming back on?

I agree a little with everybody.I just find it hard to believe that Damon didn't know that he was kissing a vampire.You would think that he knew it was Katherine ince he had kissed her before.I do however think that he knows something is up.By the way that he touched his lips and the look that he had on his face.

Katerine?!?! I mean seriously, the bitch is already getting on my nerves.
Here's another thing: why didn't Damon see that Elena didn't have the necklace on her neck? I could be mistaken about that but I didn't see the Katherine necklace on her so I just couldn't believe that Damon kissed Elena.

Wow that kiss was awesome but I think that Damon had to know that it was Katherine because people don't kiss the same and since he did kiss Katherine before then I would think that he would notice that it was her. I could be wrong but then there is the no heart beat that she does not have either. I hated that they killed off Anna but uncle John got what he deserved in the end. I can't wait until next season because what will happen when Elena & Katherine come face to face with each other? Will Damon & Stefan be mad to see their ex or glad?

I agree, I think Damon noticed that something strange was going on.
I'm not sure he knew it was Katherine but he definitely thought that it could be her. The way he touched his lips and looked back at the house at the end was suspicious. Though if he knew it was her for sure I think he would have gone in to confront her.
Anyway it was an amazing finale, positively mind blowing.
I had my doubts about this show at the beginning but no more. Plus, my summer is gonna be really boring without shirtless Salvatores to look at... I got used to it!

i totally agree that DAmon sensed something was up after he kissed Elena/Katherine. i just feel sort if bad that damon has that curse of wanting Elena when he knows he shouldn't.

OMG when i first saw the kiss between elena and damon i was like FINALLY beacause im TEAM DAMON then found out it was katherine i was like DAMMIT me or damon never win but it was funny she cut johns fingers off ive been waiting for damon to kill him but katherine got to him first atleast someone did it also when damon was done with the kiss i agree with the other person he must have known it was katherine after beacause the real elena woudnt have let him kiss her she might have on the cheek but if he tried to kiss her lips she probably would have slapped him you can see a differance katherine would kss anybody or do whatever elena thinks before she does somthing and doesnt just go kissing people i just cant wait to see what happens next in the series its funny beacause it left you with cliffhangers like what was wrong with tyler and his dad,well caroline live,is jeremy a vampire,and the best what well happen to the salvatore brothers and elena once they relize katherines back and just to say i like both brothers kinda like katherine i started with TEAM STEFAN but grew more and more fond of damon each episode and then im like damn hes hot im switching so m TEAM DAMON now but i do still really love stefan and if you read the book series when katherine comes back she says that she loves both of them and well never give either of them up but likes damon alittle more then stefan so who knows what the out come well be for the next season but for those who have not read the books should their alot differant like caroline gets pregnant with tylers baby elena becomes a vampire kills katherine dies again from the sun she becomes a spirit stefan goes to a spirit world saves her she becomes uman again theirs four book in the series te last book is the best beacause damon and elena go cross country to save stefan from this demon world and damon and elena make love and at the end damon becomes human again how youll have t read the books but its sad beacause elena still ends up with stefan but its okay beacause bonnie and damon end up together creepy huh and if you see the ookcovers you might not be able to tell whos who the first book stefans on the cover the secong book katherine the third book elena and the fourth book damon its creepy beacause the show stefan has brown eyes the book green the show elena and katherine look alike they have brown hair and brown eyes in the book they look alike but they both have blue eyes and really blond hair theirs like a million small differances youll notice to their are parts but very few that are like the show!!

I'm agree with Kim : Damon had probably found it too easy to embraced Elena without she said anything, and he surely recognized Katherine.
And I'm glad it was Katherine that Damon embraced at the end, I could not imagine this sexy bad boy embarking in this kind of romance.
Blood, blood, blood! Thank you Katherine, for had cut this idiot uncle's fingers, it did me soooo good, and we must admit that this series need seriously of… butchery!
Now, I’ve just to hope the next season (just for that I want the summer vacation to be short !).
And God Save Damon !

Damon seemed weird after he kissed Elena, like he sensed it was Katherine. You know, looking back on it now knowing it was her and all.
