Exclusive Video: We Talk to the New Ladies of Supernatural

So our clue from the other day was pretty obvious, and most of you figured out that we'd be chatting with Katie Cassidy and Lauren Cohan, Supernatural's new female regulars. Jason C. told them that you guys are skeptical here on The Source, but they seem eager to win over some converts. Check out the video and see what you think.

Jason C.'s giving them a chance... will you? Bring on the comments!

(First post here forgive my ramble)
I was a little excited when I heard there would be some more recurring parts male or female I don’t mind be nice to have a little more underline story since they played out the finding Dad and most of Sam’s gift.
But that interview worries me quite a lot. When casting the role for 2 females that need to kick ass and show they can stand with the guys CW did not request ANY talent other than pretty skinny blond? I mean come on a girl who can throw a punch should have been on the list! last time they brought a girl in (the blond who got from the bar) she throw the worst punch ever at Deans face to take the shotgun and it was not believable now they get a girl who talks well I cant describe the annoyance and admits she couldn’t even hold a sword and thinks that cos she once upon a time did gymnastics they could tell be how she walked this is the sort of girl you see in a fight using her nails how are we ever to believe that she could kill a demon unless its by talking it to death (which by that interview could work it almost did me)

I think they need to re interview and look for things like martial arts skills, shooting skills, girl who can at least throw a punch skills. Yes I know these girls aren’t skinny (British here don’t know your sizes) but then skinny would be snapped in a demon fight so drop it and think. There are pretty girls that are healthy size who can fight out there (Gina Torres is the best example!)

I didn’t get to here anything from girl two or see her so cant really comment on her YET!

Blame the parents of a murderer parents for the crime

Lauren's much better than Katie.

Hmm...im not really quite sure about having these new 'regulars' on the show, but i like Lauren. She seems sweet, unlike Katie. She needs to learn to shut up!!! Talks wayy too much!

Kripke, you should have hired Gina Torres or Claudia Black for Ruby. They would have been much more believable as hunters, much more believable as actresses and either would have been a good investment. Maybe next time we can get out of the CW's teeny bopper mentality and start thinking sensibly

katie should be quiet. give lauren a chance to speak. she sounded great for the 2 words or so she said. katie, some words of advice: SHUTUP

Thank you to the following people for their kind compliments: Kristy, Shannon, Sam, Kreb and Casey. I really appreciate it.

Regarding my post *, I just thought it was important to set out in black and white what it means to be a REAL hunter on Supernatural. With job requirements such as those outlined, it is imperative that a hunter dress for the job. We fans, not unreasonably, are simply asking for realism and continuity.

Make it easy for us to identify with the new female hunters; make us regular Jane Does out here believe that WE could be hunters, too. We sure as hell are not gonna bond with a scrawny, size 2, perfectly made up, fashion plate, who spouts plenty of attitude and bravado, but can’t walk the walk. Don’t insult our intelligence. SHOW us, with realism, why she’s such a formidable hunter. If she doesn’t even LOOK the part of a real hunter, it doesn’t matter what else she says or does. She will simply not be believable. That kind of character will not be tolerated for one second; that was one of the major problems with Jo.

Female hunters should be held to the same basic standards as male hunters, as the rigorous and very specific requirements of the job do not discriminate or give a free pass to anyone. The job demands no nonsense practicality. This does not mean we can’t or won’t see the woman behind the hunter. Done right and with great care, a female hunter, good or evil, has the potential to be truly intriguing.

I liked Lauren from the few sentences she got in edgewise, but KC needs to learn when to shut up. After Kripke's interview, I thought it might be cool to have the two new females if they didn't become love interests. I'm still excited about Lauren's, but KC hasn't sold herself yet. I doubt she ever will.

The main characters of this show are Jensen and Jared, and it'd better stay that way. That's who we care about- the brother dynamic and kick-assery, not a blonde chatterbox who couldn't hunt if she tried.

Does anyone have a link to KC's previous interview with the insult towards SPN fans? I haven't seen it yet. Thanks!

Seriously. Katie. Shut. Up. Seriously.

I don't know but Katie Cassidy doesn't come across as a credible demon hunter to me. And we're supposed to be surprised of her "little" secret reveal? Yak yakkity yak, if she drones on and on like that on the show I'm gonna buy a lot of universal remotes and smash each one onto the TV screen everytime Katie comes on...

Now THAT Lauren's got my vote!

Jared who? Jensen who?

Ok i'm willing to give the girls a chance but i hope katie doesnt talk that blonde as Ruby...OMG..like OMG...(barf)I hope she realizes that bad asses dont talk like barbie.

P.S. Did you have to add the dreaded REGULAR to the blog? I still get sick everytime I read that and I thought they were downgraded to recurring now?

As long as they can act and not change the dynamic of the show I'll be okay. I hate bad actors and it'll kill me to put up with it all season. I'm still not felling these girls but I'm willing to give them a chance and not judge them until I see them on screen.

Lauren came across as likeable, and I'm not opposed to her being on the show.

However Cassidy was absolutely rude and obnoxious in that interview. I mean if these actresses know that there is a lot of worry about their characters, wouldn't they understand that they need to attempt to win the fans over? Not blabber about themselves and be incredibly self absorbed?

Lauren is beautiful, so poised and natural. She's a keeper!

Lauren is fresh, poised and exciting. She's a keeper!

Five years as a gymnast? Wasn't that the background of the bargirl who flirted with Dean in "Shadow"? Guess one kind of female hunter is pretty much like another.

Anyway, I have no problem with these actresses--not as long as their characters stay villains, rotten to the core.

Great post, naughtyscrabble.

But SN has its heroes: two GUYS named Sam and Dean. I DO NOT WANT REGULAR FEMALE HEROES ON SN--whatever they look or act like. Holy crap! This is a MAN-centered show--one of the few left on TV. As somebody said on another site, "You want a kick-ass female hero? Go find a cheerleader."

THANKS, MR.KRIPKE! YOU'VE MADE THESE FEMALE REGULARS BADDIES AND LEFT THE HEROISM TO THE WINCHESTERS. YOU'RE A VERY WISE MAN!!!

I'm not 100% convinced so far (and the interview didn't help too much), but I'm putting my faith into Kripke. I believe he knows what he's doing. I'm very interested to see how they're going to be brought into the show and how much they're going to mess with the boys.

Every show needs room to grow. Look at Angel, which started with only three stars and ended the series with six. And IMO, that last season was its best. I'm giving Supernatural a chance here, with adding new characters. And I can only hope that others will as well.

Naugty, naugty, nauthy--what a genius you are! I do have inside information, though, that SN's female hunter hunter has already been hired for the role of "Ruby." Here's the actual ad:

"CW network seeks actress for the regular role of female hunter, Ruby. Actress must be silly bimbo."

The casting director's office said the actress who got the part perfectly met the job requirements.

I'm actually really looking forward to seeing them both on the show. At first I was dead set against it, but now with the interviews I've read and watched (this one and others) they've gained my support...for the moment, anyway.

Lauren and Katie both seem really sweet, and I agree with others who said that they appear to have similar dynamics as J2 when they're being interviewed. I also like that they both understood that Supernatural fans are fiercely protective of their show and that's the main reason for all this controversy. That alone gives them a few points in my book.

On a completely random note...LOVED Lauren's accent. Very cute! =]

OMG, naughtyscrabble, you are my god -worships-
Too bad they already cast Cassidy.
Again, lovin the Cohan, she TOTALLY sold her character to me, and that was just by being herself!
I feel a bit bad for Cassidy though, she must have been nervous, or maybe she's that obnxious all the time?
The blonde thing doesn't bother me, I mean, everyone has different hair colors, but I would have loved to have seen an African American or an Asian hunter! THAT would've been kick-ass!
My only concern is that they beef up for their role, like Jensen and Jared have and do. Cassidy seems dedicated to making her character liked, which so far she had not done.
She insulted the fans? In what interview?
If she really did she is so dead to me, little...argh -bad word- xD

I second every word that naughtyscrabble posted in that first post.

This show is made great by its raw, gritty, realistically portrayals AND look. It has a distinct blue-collar, small-town Americana LOOK to it. That's what makes Supernatural different from everything else on television now. Don't forget that wardrobe and makeup, when you are trying to dress these girls. This is not Buffy or Charmed. If I see EITHER character in fashion heels or halter tops and brand-new studded jeans, I'm not gonna be favorable to them. Hunting is not a fashion runway.

I'll give you a tip. You want me (or any of the rest of the fans) to like these girls?

Make them FIT into the world that has already been created. Which means first they must LOOK like they are part of the hunter world. Plaid/button-down shirts, worn jeans, messy ponytails or buns, good thick-soled hiking boots. NATURAL makeup. The beauty of the Supernatural world is in its simplicity. If the girls' entrance preserves that, they might have a fighting chance to stay. If not? Well...hear the mighty roar of the fans changing their tv sets.

If I had not just read the wonderful interview SciFi Wire had with Eric Kripke, I would be so worried after seeing Katie Cassidy. Maybe someone should forward the interview to her. I don't know if she's just trying to hard or if she really is just that clueless.... Lauren, when given a chance to speak, seemed to realize the fans only want to preserve the integrity of their show. Cassidy is just, well, immature and seems to be rather self-absorbed. The gymnast comment? "I don't know if you could tell when I walked in..." WTF? Seriously, the girl needs to have a major sit down session with a PR expert and taught the dos and don'ts of interviews. But again, I'm not worried. Kripke himself said they would not be love interests, that statements saying that are fabricated. His words. Not mine. They won't be in every episode, 12 TOPS. If they don't work out, he will "course correct." He said this in SciFi Wire and TV Guide. So I'm confidant the new season will be the best ever. The war has just begun!!

I think people are overracting to these characters, I doubt both of them will make it to season four - Cassidy won't last more than a year, while Lauren Cohans character will probably be the one to carry on. Lauren seems very poised and natural; it's nice that they're letting her keep her English accent. It widens the SPN world a little more, I like her already.

The Claws r coming out

LMAO

I can't wait to see what happens with Bela and Ruby. I think they'll make an awesome match against/with the boys. : )

P.S.

naughtyscrabble SPEAKS FOR US ALL!

Well said!

I wanted to stab Katie in the eye. She needs to learn when to SHUT UP!UGH the shows gonna get cancelled with that blond bimbo on it.But i like Lauren...shes quiet and not a bimbo :)

I'm still not buying it. I guess I'm one of those who's going to have to wait until season 3 to see for myself. This interview gave me nothing but a headache. I don't care if you were a gymnist. You're job is to make the viewers like you. Not gonna happen if you never shut up Ms. Cassidy. I rather liked Lauren. I wish I could have heard her take on the show. Let's get another interview without KC. Bring on season 3.

right from the beginning of this whole Ruby/Bela fiasco.. I kept telling myself.. 'Don't judge a book by its cover.. don't judge a book by its cover..'
but there's just something about Katie that agitates the hell out of me, Just makes me want to pull my hair out. She hasn't a clue.
Lauren on the other hand (from the 5 words she got in on that interview) seems not so 'full of herself' and to me so far.. alot more likeable. She knows what shes getting in to.. she is taking all the online criticism very light heartedly, which goes to show that she respects us and our dedication. Personally I think that being cast onto Supernatural would be a actress's worst nightmare.
We will not settle for anything less then the absolute best for our boys and our show, and if they don't meet that standard, well there will be hell to endure

Clueless Cassidy is as vapid in this interview as her last. I guess we can be thankful she didn't dis the fans again.
Cohan, eh.... whatever. The only reason people like her is because she has an accent and can't get a word in edgewise in interviews.
These girls are going to be shoved down our throats no matter what. Honestly, 12 eps. max?? According to Kripke! That could be 24 eps. between them. Just kill me now!
If these characters had just been brought in for a 2 or 3 ep. arc, they might have been fine. But, this force feeding is just so disappointing. And all the fuss being made over them by CW and the media.... Gee, Sam & Dean....Sam and Dean who???? oh, OH you mean the former stars of the show. Yeah, they'll be holding the doors for the kick ass NEW hunters, so they can kill the 200 demons this season.

Okay, um, "Valley Girl accent?" That's not an accent. That's how people in California talk. Which means it's not an accent, of course. ;)

Anyways, I think Katie just needs to tone it down a bit. It's obvious she's trying too hard, but she does have kind of a foot-in-mouth thing going on.

Also, I agree that she's just not believable as a demon hunter... and it's not just because she's blonde. She just doesn't have that silent, strong thing going on. I hope she can act.

As for Lauren, I agree with all the previous comments--she's extremely believable as the character they chose her to play. I can see her slipping into a role on Supernatural easily.

But... honestly... I'm a 17-year-old from LA, and I can communicate better than Katie Cassidy. Can I be a demon hunter too?

Katie Cassidy has got to go. period.

Kripke knows what he's doing.

You want me to BUY Ruby as your new ruthless, kick ass hunter? You’ll have to SELL her to me!

These two new characters have GOT to be portrayed realistically if they have any hope of fitting into the Supernatural hunting world, not to mention gaining fans’ approval. Every single hunter we’ve ever seen has LOOKED like a hunter (well, except Jo). We have every right to expect no less from the new characters. Although I’m not exactly sure how a ‘mercenary’ usually dresses. Probably the same as a hunter, I would guess.

The correct wardrobe, hair, etc. will go a LONG way towards making them believable and ultimately, acceptable. If they appear in any type of fashionable, provocative or revealing clothing in any way, it will immediately destroy any sense of credibility they’re trying to establish.

Supernatural is a gritty, realistic, blue-collar-guy-next-door show...that’s what makes it so believable. It is not a parody or spoof. We do not want to see in-your-face, over the top, cardboard, T & A caricatures of super hero wannabes. Give us REAL women, dressed as REAL hunters and you’re halfway there with the fans. Make us say, “Yeah, they’re honest-to-God hunters .”

Here’s the general job description for Hunter. These are REQUIREMENTS, not options:

WANTED: HUNTER

Seasoned, very experienced demon and ghost hunter. Must have at least twenty years hardcore, in- the-field experience. Must be on call 24/7. Must be willing to work for no compensation. Must be an adrenaline junkie. Must be willing to travel anywhere, anytime. Must be willing to use own vehicle, driving thousands of miles cross country for countless hours on end. Must be willing to do hours of research, tracking down leads from all sources. If you are looking for rewards and praise, this job is not for you. Must accept that this is a dead-end job (frequently literally, as well as figuratively), with NO chance for promotion.

Must have advanced knowledge of the paranormal, the occult, demonology, urban legends and folklore. Must be familiar with vampires, werewolves, zombies, strigas, poltergeists, wendigos and other assorted entities, as well as the means to kill them. Must have experience with possessed individuals (personal possession does not count) and exorcisms. That Latin you took in high school will come in VERY handy. Must love mysteries, the unknown and figuring out puzzles.

Must be expertly trained in various types of weaponry, self defense, military strategy and combat tactics. Those with a military or law enforcement background are especially encouraged to apply, as are loners, since the life of a hunter is very often solitary. Knowledge of criminal forensics desirable, as well as the proper use of latex gloves at crime scenes. Lock picking skills are essential. Single individuals, with little or no family, are encouraged to apply, as long term relationships are nearly impossible.

MUST be in TOP physical condition, including strength and endurance, as strenuous activities such as running, digging graves, hand to hand combat and carrying wounded comrades are often required. Must be trained in basic survival skills. Must be able to escape handcuffs with a paper clip.

Must acknowledge and accept that this job is supremely dangerous and every case may be your last.
This job has a high death rate. There are no retirement packages, workers comp or health insurance. If you are injured or killed, that is your problem. If you are injured, you must be willing to forego medical treatment in many circumstances. You must be highly trained in first aid. If you are sickened
at the sight of blood and gore, please do not apply. You must have a very high tolerance for pain. You may be required to stitch up your own wounds or that of someone else, without benefit of anesthesia.

MUST be willing to wear the time-honored uniform of hunters everywhere...comfortable, roomy jeans and multiple layers of T-shirts, henleys, plaid flannel shirts and jackets. Steel-toed, kick ass boots mandatory. Must be willing to keep hair short for safety and practical reasons. If you require the use of anything more than chapstick, including lipstick and mascara before going out in public, why are you reading this ad?

Additionally, if you consider mousse, hot wax, nail polish, a curling iron and thong underwear traveling essentials, you need to look into another career immediately. Similarly, if it takes you more than ten seconds to choose your outfit for the day (including the smell test) or if you have to lay on the bed to zip up your jeans, after you’ve poured yourself into them, you are clearly NOT hunter material.

Must not mind getting dirty and/or bloody and/or covered in gore, frequently with no immediate access to laundry or shower facilities. If you iron your jeans, fold your underwear, order extra starch at the cleaner’s and/or order from L.L. Bean and/or Victoria’s Secret, please do not waste our time. Must be able to wear the same clothes for days on end, if necessary.

Must be an expert liar, as well as experienced in the use of disguises. Must be willing to make money in unorthodox, unconventional, if not downright illegal ways. Experience in poker, pool hustling and credit card fraud highly desirable. Must be willing to live hand to mouth, with no guarantee of your next meal. Must be comfortable with being a fugitive, as a result of your covert and illegal activities.

Must be brave in the face of extreme danger, willing to take calculated risks, but not foolhardy. Various and assorted personal fears and phobias are acceptable, such as rats, clowns and flying, but must be willing to overcome them to do whatever is required to get the job done. Must be able to discern evil from non-evil. Must not be afraid to kill, but must be confident, knowledgeable and judicious when doing so. Must be ruthless only when killing evil.

Must be willing to protect the innocent at all costs. Must be willing to put your own life on the line each and every day. Must be willing to sacrifice your own life and personal happiness for the greater good. Altruism and compassion highly desirable.

Good communication skills a must. Excellent writing skills very desirable, as hunters frequently keep journals of their hunts for future reference and as resource guides for other hunters. Must have excellent people skills, able to expertly read body language. Knowledge of psychology and sociology highly desirable. Must have excellent negotiation skills. Must be computer literate and internet research savvy. Must be eager and willing to continuously learn new things, including better techniques. Keen attention to detail an absolute must.

Must have dark sense of humor to survive each and every day. Skill in playing pranks is a plus. Must be able to keep own counsel and keep secrets when necessary. Must be willing to live on the edge without going over. Must be able to commit to the hunt each and every day...physically and mentally. Must be innovative and willing to push the envelope. Must be extremely adaptable and flexible. Must be very quick witted and willing to improvise, if necessary. Must be quick learner and have excellent memory. You will be your own boss; you will set all the rules. Must be totally self-sufficient, but willing and able to work with others, if necessary. Must be willing to face the horrific and the unknown every day. Must be willing to admit mistakes and learn from them, as failing to do so may cost your life or someone else’s. Must establish own reliable contacts and resources.

Must be willing to live out of own car, sleep in crappy motels and survive on lots of greasy fast food, convenience store snacks, coffee and the occasional beer and/or Purple Nurple. Must keep car in excellent repair, as it may frequently save your life. This includes current inspections, working lights and signals, etc., to prevent drawing authorities’ attention. Must keep good stock of car tags to switch out as necessary, as well as a well stocked trunk with essential supplies and weapons.

Incidentally, if you DO become a hunter but have a chip on your shoulder, are self-righteous, a know-it-all or generally just have a pissy, extremely bad attitude, there are hunters out there who will quickly set you straight.

If your heroes include the likes of the Winchesters, Sarah Connor * and Ellen Ripley **, you may have a great career ahead as a hunter.

Lastly, should you become a hunter, there is NEVER a need to compete to be the ‘best’, the ‘greatest’ or the ‘toughest’ hunter. They don’t exist.

All that is required is that you use your knowledge and skills to kill evil, save people and survive in one piece, to continue the good fight the next day. That you do these things is proof enough that you are a damn fine hunter. You are already a hero.

Give me a realistic, believable hunter in Ruby, someone worthy of the Winchesters and I just might buy what you’re selling.

* Sarah Connor, The Terminator http://www.starman-imaging.com/nov03/term2_2417r.jpg
** Ellen Ripley, Alien http://www.davidlouisedelman.com/images/sigourney-weaver.jpg

I have nothing against either actress but their characters are NOT good for Supernatural, and too much of them will ruin that show.

I like both of them! I think they are really sweet and likeable! I like Lauren's accent and I don't really get why everyone seems to dislike Katie I thought she seemed nice... Also just b/c Katie is nice that doesn't mean she can't pull off mean, 90% of the people who play the bad guys on tv are usually the nicest people you could meet! Kripke wouldn't of cast her if she couldn't pull it off.. So i'm not worried!

I just watched the interview again, and OH BOY does Cassidy look like Hilary Duff..and she shouldn't wear so much make-up :(
I sincerly hope they both get some muscle on their arms before the show starts. It doesn't look believable at all.

Well, I guess we can only hope that Cassidy is good actress, because if I see any of that "lyk omg I was a gymanist, totally," shit I am going to pretty much going to self implode.
I would absolutly love to see what Jared and Jensen think of their new co-stars, too.
Lauren was SO nice...but I think this might have to do with the fact that we barely got to hear her talk, lol. But still, she seems very nice...and that British accent, OMG. So cool, wish she could keep it on the show :(
Katie did not seem professional at all during this interview. While I like the way they're going with Bella, and Ruby's (although I am not very happy about Ruby being a recurring regular...too many episodes) plotline sounds pretty awesome, Cassidy doesn't sell anything to me. In fact, she makes me gag. PLEASE DO NOT BRING THIS TO THE SHOW.
She crashed and burned here...if anything, she just made everyone hate Ruby even more.
KUDOS TO LAUREN, because now I am so in love with Bella I can't stand it...xD
I really do wonder who casted Katie...-sigh- She seems nice, though.
Lol, I gotta stop bashing her x)
Anyways, I just hope this doesn't turn out like No Exit...where the whole show was drowned out by Jo, who ironically enough looks as young as Katie acts. Uh, hello, CW, you gave us a pre-mature blonde before. How well did that work out?
Again, hopefully she's a damn good actress.
Long live the Cohan! LOL

My ears are soar from Katie's ditzzy, overwhelming,under-interesting,in your face personality!!(Don't like her!!!:])
But I love Lauren's accent,
just so cute on her!!!!:):)

Does Katie ever shut up?!!!
She is like a broken record!
"Spice the show up"!! uh please, I'd rather throw spice in Katie's eyes:):)
This girl sounds more like a talking Barbie with it's strings all tangled up then a ruthless hunter!!!
I know I'm just complaining but I thought and know the show can do a lot better!!(Just look at Lauren, but hopefully she talks more in the show!!)
But I love Supernatural anyway, and will watch the show for Sam and Dean(can always count on them:])xoxoxo

First off, IN KRIPKE WE TRUST!

Alright, so here it is, I'm really starting to get excited about Lauren Cohen's character and I'm really liking her so far as far as that interview went. Wished she had talked a little more.

Katie Cassidy, I was skeptical from the beginning I'm still skeptical and that didn't help at all. But I'm going to have faith that Kripke and the writing crew will write her a great part, and I'm going to wait and see what she's going to do with the part.

I never thought in a million years that I would be saying this, but those 2 girls actually made me like the Joe character. I have watched the show from the very beginning. Never missed an episode and you better not bother me when it's on and not once have I ever thought-"Wow these guys really need annoying girlfriends!" They might be really super girls in real life, but not on my show. :)

katie made an a$$ out of hersellf if shes on the show the show is off the air in month the other girl never talked i agree with jen ther is some thing not right with that girl cudint the cw get better girl?
lauren cohan is so nice looking and looks like a great actor she will do good on the show.

At least Katie Cassidy wasn't quite as insulting to the fans in this clip (although it's hard to top the insult that fans are just jealous girls, haters, who are so in love with the boys and that's why we're skeptical). It's going to be hard to accept her character in any capacity, with her brief track record in the interviews thus far.

I'm optimistic about Bela, though, and Lauren Cohan hasn't done anything yet to spoil that. I like her poise, to this point. She seemed patient enough with Cassidy's yapping, and when she could get a word in, she presented herself well.

Was katie smoking something before she did this interview? She certainly sounds technically out of it. Lauren handled herself professionally on the other hand. Poor poor Supernatural one good cast member and one somewhere out there. How did they cast ruby, pick a name out of a hat.

Oh, please. Can she get any more blond?? Have to agree with everyone here: the show needs no more spice!! Also, could we please have a sit down interview? Is that too much to ask? Katie, darling, grow up a bit, come back after 2.5 kids and a divorce. Then you can be kick-ass after you've taken on the world. Would love to hear what Lauren has to say, if only Katie would shut the hell up!!

Spice up the show? OMG. Get real. This just... sucks out loud. I'm NOT impressed. The second these 100 pound gals start kicking ass (which to me is SO unrealistic) or the second we have to indure a back story of theirs/an episode centered on them, I'm tuning out for good.

Where most of Lauren's responses cut from this interview? I would have liked to hear more from her and less of Katies inane chatter. Lauren seems to be a good asset for the show- Katie needs to be replaced ASAP.I couldn't take her seriously as a kick-a$$ demon hunter if I tried.

Katie - this show does NOT need 'spicing up'. Grab a clue!
If this girl is gonna play a 'love interest' fans will be jumping ship fast.
The brunette comes across better, but still not wanting ANYONE to mess up the dynamic between Sam and Dean.

Jury's still out.

I really am starting to like Lauren and I think she will be good on the show. The Cassidy girl on the other hand was extremly annoying. I still can't wait for season 3!! In Kripke We Trust!!!!!!

Katie,,,go eat a sandwich and keep your mouth shut, okay? And please try your darndest to not do another interview about the show unless you actually have something intelligent to discuss. Oh, and newsflash - the world does not revolve around you.

Lauren - you're a doll! (Just avoid any semblance of a love interest and you will do just fine!)

Ok i'm sorry, but that interview did not make me warm up to these characters at all.
Spice to the show? The show had plenty of spice.
Katie, although i'm sure she's a sweet girl, looks like she's trying way to hard. If she's that "in your face" on the actual show, it could pose a problem.
I'm still having trouble picturing her as an overly skilled demon hunter, but time will tell on that.
Lauren's character i'm a little more mellow with, but time will tell on that too.
Hopefully this all goes well.

Is it just me, or did Cassidy never shut up and give Lauren a chance to speak? She reminded me of Hillary Duff. No matter Kripke's assurances, I am worried....

I love Lauren. I really do. She is trying so hard to stick up for the fandom and show her love.

Katie Cassidy is clearly 20. And not the "old for her age 20". She acts like a 17 year old valley girl. I'm trying not to judge...but the make up department and maybe a couple speech coaches will have to work wonders with her.

And, Cassidy, darling, you need to stop sticking your foot in your mouth. The fans aren't haters. And the show doesn't need spicing up.

Ugh.

A guys perspective: Lauren is great, but dump Cassidy. She couldn't hunt her way out of a paper bag.

And the show doesn't need spicing up. Not all of us guys want T&A, some of us like INTELLIGENT shows.

I think the deal here is since we the fans reacted to harsh toward the addition of two females for season 3 Katie is trying WAY too hard to be liked....and quite frankly this interview is NOT helping at all...

love Lauren though! she's down-to-earth and I love accent!!

love katie <3 lauren's cute. can't wait to see the show.

I think that Kripke and KC are now going to have to work damn hard to get Ruby accepted by the SPN fandon. I certainly hope that Kripke's vision of Ruby is indeed vastly different from what KC's vision of her appears to be (all tedious, dated kickass girl power)...or that she is supposed to be obnoxious and therefore someone who we can all happily dislike. If Ruby is going to be someone who is instrumental in facilitating Sam's moral decline in S3 (as has been speculated around the boards) I really wouldn't want to see her ditched/written out/bumped off halfway through as where would that leave that particular SL and the potential (and much longed for by some of us) Sam insight that could come with it.

Katie needs to learn to not talk the entire interview. And needs to stop telling everyone to watch the show to find out and saying how ass kicking these characters.

Good grief, no wonder I'm liking Bela so much more then Ruby. Lauren seems really down to earth and IMO is going to stick around a while. And I lover her accent.

I`m trying to not judge the new female characters before they appear, but Katie Cassidy is really rubbing me the wrong way, and I`m starting to hate the character.

Cassidy - far too young and it shows.

Cohan - promising. Still not as a regular (because she needs to earn it), or a love interest thanks. But if TPTB don't try to make her Buffy or Faith - promising.

Unfortunately, I'm unable to view the video.

If it's no trouble would someone be kind enough to give a rundown of the interview?

much appreciated :)

Yeah, I agree Katie overtalked, but you know, she's probably not very used to team talking. Jared and Jensen have a system of talking so that Jared talks more, but Jensen always gets a chance. Maybe Katie will get better at that.

I think she could have put her oppinions of Reaper and her character a little better, she was probably trying not to insult the new show and make Ruby and Bela sound like a really good thing and it didn't come off quite right, but again with more experience she may get better.

I agree, Lauren has an awesome accent! I would like to hear her a little more, maybe next time.

Christ almighty!! We have a whole season of Kate Cassidy to endure??

And what's with the 'spice up the show' comment? SPN doesn't need to be spiced up, thank you very much, lady!!

I was somewhat reassured by Kripke's interview earlier this week but this plague of interviews with Rubella are making me dread S3 all over again. And where are Jared and Jensen interviews? Where are any details on Sam and Dean in S3? They are the *only* ones I'm interested in.

Can someome tell that Katie girl that enough is enough?! Lauren barely spoke...seriosly

I think Lauren is a lot
better than Katie.

I think Katie needs to shush it a little. I loved Lauren's accent, it's awesome. Hopefully she doesn't go after Dean or else I'm gonna be really upset.

Oh please! Somebody save us from that terrible Cassidy casting disaster! =(

Lauren seemed sweet but Katie was just friggin annoying. Blah blah blah blah me me me me me that's all I got out of her mouth. Poor Lauren didn't get to do any of the talking. I'm hating Ruby more and more by the day.

I believe that Katie Cassiday is her own greatest fan.

I think they're going to be awesome! I can't wait to see their characters-I think they're going to be people we love to hate.

I love Lauren...Cassidy is so damn yappy!
The show doesn't need any friggin spice, my god.
I hope Katie ditches that Valley Girl accent before filming T_T

My goodness. I found Katie Cassidy annoyingly overbearing. Lauren Cohen barely had a chance to speak. Ugh.

Cassidy is all about Cassidy. Nice that Cohan finally managed to edge her way in and say something. Too bad Cassidy wasn't hired for her fave,"Reapers."
"Supernatural" doesn't need this kind of ego.

Word of advice. Stop referring to how kick ass the characters are. That means you interviewers, actors, showrunners. We already have kick ass on this show. Tell us how you're going to give us something NEW besides estrogen. Tell us how you are going to ENHANCE the GUYS story in a unique and interesting way. The guys have enough trouble in the names of Hendrickson, Gordon and about 200 demons. They don't need to have "trouble" from someone that's supposed to be on their side (hunting demons) or someone there to foil them time and time again by absconding with something they need. That could get quite old quite fast.

Something about Katie Cassidy just rubs me the wrongg way. I can't quite put my finger on it yet, but I'm working on that.

I find it hilarious that fans are so apposed to female characters on the show. They have real hatred for them, it's sooo funny to me!!! I love Dean as much as the next girl.. but I don't want to see him lonely! *heh* I wanna see have some fun!!

I personally would love to see something happen with Dean and Lauren Cohan character. I think she's beautiful!!

I trust Kripke. As I have said before..

Katie..don't like her, didn't give Lauren a chance to talk. "*blah blah blah* and I was a gymnast!!"

Lauren..I like her, she seems very down to earth. And in the previous interview with them, Katie pulled the whole "open mouth/insert foot" with the hater fan girls. She has a lot to make up for.

Well, I have been gaining a much more positive outlook on this whole thing lately. I agree that they seem very likeable. It's funny that, rather like Jensen and Jared, Lauren seemed perfectly happy to let Katie do most of the talking.

They both seem very sweet and I get the idea that their characters will be pretty intriguing. By this point I am happy to just wait and see what happens, which I'm sure is all they're asking.

I still I dont like these people! I wish Kripke would have given me a call so Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton could join the cast but so far I havent seen anything great about these 2 girls give me season 3 now!

*is annoyed*

Well...the actresses are quite likeable. And I'm not personally opposed to their characters. From the interviews with Kripke, I feel fairly confident that this is going to be a good thing.
