Oh dear. The Internet is upside-down again.

In the loopy world of blogs, this is the first post you'll see. For us, it's the last.

From the time this blog launched with several contributors, it has always been in a bit of a gerrymandered space between the sports and health worlds, with some transportation and food thrown in.

We've lost some voices in the year since then, so it's with some relief that those of us still active move to Picture of Health this month. We hope you'll come with us so we won't have to miss you.

It's been fun. Thanks for all the comments!

FTC: Reebok to pay $25 million for deceptive advertising of toning shoes

By Eileen Ambrose

Reebok spokesman Dan Sarro responded to an FTC settlement:

"We stand behind our EasyTone technology – the first shoe in the toning category that was inspired by balance-ball training. Settling does not mean we agree with the FTC’s allegations; we do not. We have received overwhelmingly enthusiastic feedback from thousands of EasyTone customers, and we remain committed to the further development of our EasyTone line of products. Our customers are our number one priority, and we will continue to deliver products that they trust and love.'

Web tool to find new running shoes

With fall racing season fast approaching, I'm reminded it's time to think about what shoes we'll be racing in. Shoes that you are training in now, for example, likely won't get you across the finish line if you're training for the Baltimore Marathon or Baltimore Half, according to Jim Adams, owner of Falls Road Running Store.

I'd seen this online shoe-finder tool before on the Runner's World website, but it was highlighted on my of my favorite blogs, Lifehacker, today, so thought I'd share their post.

The RW Shoe Finder asks you to answer a series of questions, then recommends shoes based on your answers.

If you know your foot type and what type of shoe you need, it can be helpful to see what else is out there if you're looking for something new. If you're new to buying running shoes, this interactive could help you create a list of shoes you might want to try on once you get to the running store. (If you're a newbie, I highly recommend going to a running store whether or not you have a handy web tool.)

If you test this out, let me know what you think.

Go Caddy winner!

Congrats to Dianne -- the Go Caddy goes to her.

Dianne told us that she had fallen not for a high-tech or new-fangled or high-priced accessory, but for a visor.

Keeps the sun out of her eyes, isn't as constricting as a hat. And now, a bag to go with it.

Product Review: Win a small tote for gym, sports

Go CaddyThis is me walking from car to gym: I dig into a jacket pocket and pull out my earbuds, and if I'm lucky, only a grocery receipt, pen and parking pass tangled in the wires fall out in the parking lot.

Walking the dog, I have so much stuff in my pockets and hands that I wish fanny packs would make a comeback.

So when the Go Caddy arrived in Exercists-land, I took this thin little lightweight tote with pockets and water bottle holder for a test run.

It's the creation of a Florida woman who found regular gym bags too big, but without one, she got her exercise bending down in her Y's parking lot to retrieve everything she dropped.

My take: It's roomy enough for my gym needs. With keys, tissues and cell phone inside, the rubber-backed microfiber squashes small enough to fit in the junk bin of the treadmill -- or, with water bottle, stand in it. A small towel will fit inside.

It's also good for a walking the dog. Multiple compartments let me organize plastic bags, letters, cell, etc. and sling it over my shoulder. That would probably translate to short easy hikes. I like the security of a Velcro-close pocket, though I could go for a zipper on the pouch. I don't need the key clip.

A nod to the water bottle sleeve -- removable so the inside of the bag doesn't stay damp and gross. It's about $20 at the Go Caddy site and other retailers including Amazon.com

We've all found special fitness and sports accessories that we've come to rely on. Tell us about yours and we'll toss your name in the Go Caddy for a chance to win it.

Sports bra options and 'The dreaded uniboob'

If you're in the market for new spring workout clothes, and you're a woman, surely a sports bra is on your list (sports bras should be replaced often, I've learned).

The Washington Post had a story this week on sports bras -- what to look for, how to make sure they fit, and suggestions for a few good ones.

The article has a cute title: The sports bra: Your No. 1 supporter.

I found the article informative, but I had one quibble: every time I read a story about sports bras, or reviews of sports bras on retail websites, someone always brings up "the dreaded uniboob."

I have been wearing sports bras since middle school, and I have to say, I have no idea what uniboob is, nor do I know why it's so dreaded. Is this seriously a real problem? Or is it a marketing thing?

Gym shoe help?

The shoes I wear to the gym look like they're in perfect condition. That's the outside. The inside cushion is squashed down. That nice bounce is gone. And I'm starting to feel it on the treadmill and cross-trainer.

I tried plain, cheap insoles, and that was a waste. I love the shoes, and I'd rather not have to invest in new ones right now.

Suggestions for comfy insoles that will last and don't cost a fortune?

Swim cap HELP!

Awesome swim cap

Back when I first started swim lessons, I worried that I wouldn't be able to find a swim cap that could contain my hair. Turns out that my worries were well-founded.

On the days I do wear a swim cap, I spend so much time tugging it to keep it in place and not have it snap off my head that it's a big-time distraction. When I don't wear one, my hair starts to feel like hay, even after using the shampoo and conditioner made for swimmers.

Does anyone have any ideas, or swim cap suggestions? I'm starting to think I may just have to get a major hair cut.

I also ADORE this Speedo swim cap pictured on the left (from Speedo.com) but somehow, I don't think it would work for me.

Fitness Expo

Mark your 2011 calendar:

The Severna Park Community Center, a not-for-profit, no-membership center, is having a free fitness fair Jan. 8. The center is still lining up vendors from around the region, Anne Arundel Medical Center is working with the center on this, and a schedule of classes, demonstrations and seminars is being finalized. The program includes fitness and exercise, health and wellness.

This is the second year of the Fitness in the Park Expo. Last year, more than 250 people came. This is a good way to sample different exercises without making a commitment and to check out new things on the market. Classes and programs at the expo include not only the ones that operate at the center, but those offered elsewhere in the area. Events for kids, adults, seniors -- they are all part of this. That might give you some good ideas and motivation for the new year. More info will be on the center's website as the 8th approaches.

The center also is home to a free exercise class on Monday nights. The idea is to get you started, whatever your level. Show up with your towel and bottle of water.

For the center's website, click here.

And if your organization has upcoming fitness events, tell us.

Tops in fitness: Share your thoughts

Where's your go-to place for a long run? What's the area's best-equipped gym, most accessible swimming facility, hottest new exercise class?

We're hoping that over the next 10 weeks, you can help us figure out the answers to those questions and more.

Next week, we'll launch 10 weeks of fitness Top 10s. We'll list a topic, take your suggestions, add some ideas of our own, and compile them into lists.

We're tentatively thinking of listing places for running, biking swimming and doing yoga. But we're also considering top recreation sports (and leagues), places to hike, best non-traditional fitness, best classes.

If you're got some ideas for a top 10, or if there's anything you'd like to see, let us know!

Cute workout clothes and free yoga!

It's not the newest news, but thought I'd share this tidbit in time for shopping for cold-weather workout clothes:

Lululemon, maker of yoga and running clothes, has opened a showroom in Baltimore.

I came across this information by accident while on their website looking for the address of the Annapolis location.

I went to the Fell's Point showroom, which is open just Thursdays through Saturdays, a few weeks ago and found it cute and the employees friendly. While they don't carry the company's entire line, they had plenty of apparel and accessories to choose from.

The store has also been holding FREE YOGA in Patterson Park near the pagoda every Saturday at 9 a.m. I haven't been yet, but maybe I'll check it out this weekend before the swim lesson.

If you've been already, let me know.

Teens' Under Armour jones flattens

Under Armour, the primary sponsor of next week's downtown running festival, has lost teenagers' attention a bit, according to work done by investment bank Piper Jaffray.

Despite a small slide in shoe reputation rankings for teens -- from 18% brand preference last fall to 16% -- the South Baltimore company remains in second place, behind Nike, according to the report.
