My last mammogram was so painful that I actually screamed in agony. The results were sketchy because I moved around so much in pain. I don't normally have breast pain. Finally the radiologist agreed that I could undergo a diagnostic ultrasound instead, commenting to me, "Really we get a better picture with this tool." >>>>>>
SO IF IT'S painless, and if the results are more accurate, WHY aren't patients prescribed ultrasounds routinely, instead of traditional mammograms????
For the record, I have no family history of breast disease, I'm a non-smoker, and I'm 48. My last mammogram was 3 years ago. Because I refuse to go back for more torture, I do not plan to undergo any more breast imaging until I am assured that it will be pain-free.

will there ever be a better way than being smashed. this whole process scares me as I have had biopsies on both breasts. However nothing showed up until I was given ultrasound I believe which shows images while rubbing the wand around your breasts. this was only done because I complained of pain.
