You did it!!!! Rescue Ink is COMING to Baltimore!!!!

Rescue Ink is coming to Baltimore! I repeat: RESCUE INK IS COMING TO BALTIMORE!

Thanks to your amazing tattoo pledges that started here on Unleashed, to the amazing offer by Baltimore Humane Society to donate not only their property but transportation and lodging for the tattooed ones to get down here to Baltimore Tattoo Museum for agreeing to allow their artists to give their time...it's HAPPENING.

More details to come. But the quick down and dirty is this:

The tattoo fest will be Oct. 24 at the Tattoo Museum from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The tattoo price will be split with half going to Rescue Ink, and half going to the Humane Society.

Rescue Ink will be at the Humane Society Oct. 25.

So...everyone ready for paw print tattoos???? There were WELL over 100 of you last time we counted!!!!!

I still want to do it, but I'm just getting back from New York that afternoon and was going to hit the Lantern Parade activities with my toddler.

I'll have to try to make this work. Do you know if they're doing appointments or first come first serve?

I'll be there

Yay!!! That is so awesome!!

I am SOOOOOO there!!

I'm there! Can't wait for more details!

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!

This is the most amazing news ever. i can't wait to get my ink!!

Oh my goddess! I can't believe it!!!!!! :) I'm smiling so wide my face hurts. I'm off to buy an ink pad to stamp Lucy's pawprint! Congratulations everyone, and thanks for keeping the momentum going!

Fantastic news! Will watch this space for details. =)

Oops, Anonymous was me!

I am just sitting here speechless! My stomach is doing flips! Is this for real? Did we really do this? Thank-you Jill Rosen. So does this mean they are considering coming here to help us?

Is there anyway to reserve one of the first appointments? I have a scheduling conflict during the afternoon but don't want to miss out on this opportunity.

Seriously, wouldn't this be some kind of world record? The largest number of people tattoo'd at one time..or in one day...or of the same tattoo...or for the same cause??

Someone should contact Guiness Book of World Records to check!!!

This is awesome!!!

How exciting! I'm still in but I'm also only able to do a morning appt or possibly early afternoon because I have late afternoon/evening plans. So excited for this and for the Rescue Ink guys to come to town. Good job to all involved in getting this done!

I'm there!

Man! I'm going to be in the Dominican Republic, sans my doggy! But would have loved to come and meet Eric! He's my fav cuz he has something like three Min Pins! (and some pretty nice guns! hehe!) Call me, Eric!

To those who are asking, it will most likely be first come, first served...making that many appointments and actually sticking to them will be nearly impossible.

My housemate, Andy, and I are getting our designs drawn up tomorrow. Hope my dog is ready to get her feet dirty to help out her brothers and sisters. This should prove interesting..

I'm so ready! I love how there is so much power in numbers to get things done!!!

Bill from Baltimore Tattoo Museum here. We are looking forward to participating in this adventure! In the interest of trying to make this happen for everyone we will be tattooing folks first-come, first-served. We have worked with Tracy and Kristy from the Humane Society to come up with a cool paw-print design. My understanding is that a lot of people have committed to getting tattooed as a show of support for the project- Due to the number of people we expect- we may not be able to do actual paw-prints from your dogs. Let's see how it goes. See y'all on the 24th!!

Aack! I'm starting my back piece on the 24th from 1-4! Well...I guess I'm getting two in one day. I need to sign up for a spot after 5 or 6 though.

That is fantastic news- will they stick around to help out on a few cases?

I AM THERE!!

Is there any way you could post a picture of the tattoo or email it? I'm not sure if I am going to be able to get my schedule rearranged to be there that day, but would still like to get the tat. Or perhaps BTM will accept appointments at a later date and we can donate additional funds to the non-profits. I want to help out the cause so let me know any suggestions.

I have drill that weekend, but I am going to do everything I can to get down there on Saturday. This is awesome.

AWESOME!! I had one of my tattoos from an artist at the BTM, and I know my rescue pooch, Trixie, would appreciate the funds going to such a good cause! I hope I can be one of the lucky tattoo recipients!!

Excellent! I look forward to it :)

Please can you post the tattoo price & the times Rescue Ink will be at the Humane Society ?
Many thanks !

Another request for design/size/link over here!!!! I didn't sign up for it originally, but depending on the size it may replace my next one I had planned.

Great news that there's a standardized design, actually - I like it for the unity of the project and there's no WAY Desmond or Oz would stay still to have their paw prints taken via ink pad! Happy to work with BTM again, as I got a cat tattoo there two years ago!

I'll be there - I can't wait!! Jill, great work!

Please post the cost of the tattoo!

As an owner of a cat and two dogs (one Doberman mix, one Great Dane), a fan of this blog, a Harley Davidson owner, and a believer in/fan of what the guys from Rescue Ink do, I'd LOVE to take part in this event. I'm interested to know the design and cost, too. Hope to see everyone on 10/24!!!

Awesome! I'll be there!

I'm taking part in Light the Night that evening at Camden Yards to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, so I'll be at BTM early!!!

TATTOO INFO FROM BALTIMORE TATTOO MUSEUM!!

So I just called BTM a few minutes ago, and thought I would post the information.

The design for this fundraiser is already drawn up! I believe it's the paw on the group's facebook page (see the link).
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=142420536915&ref=ts

If you are participating in this fundraiser, you are getting the paw they designed, NOT your animal's paw print.

So if you made an appointment with BTM to get your dog's paw (which it looks like some people have) I would double check with them to see if they're actually going to donate those proceeds to Rescue Ink and the Baltimore Humane Society, and I would bet that the answer would be "NO."

I called to find out if I could make an appointment to get my dog's paw designed and ready to rock for next week. The guy explained that everyone gets the same paw design, and if I wanted my dog's paw it would be a completely separate thing. The guy also told me that he didn't recommend that I come that day because 1. it's going to be crowded (DUH) 2. BTM is not making any money.

Knowing that, if you still want to participate make sure you bring your ID, $100 for the ink, and a tip for the artist.

Personally, I may make my own personal donation to Rescue Ink, and get my dog's paw some other time.

Just thought people should know what's up.

No cat paw? :-(

Thanks for the info, Tara. I think I'm in the same boat as you--I've been wanting my dog Lucy's pawprint, so I may make a donation and get my tattoo before or after.

Once more-
Saturday, October 24th is all about THE EVENT!!
We we will be doing a lot of paw prints in one day. The understanding we have with The Humane Society folks is that we could take care of everyone if we kept the design consistent for the event. As I posted earlier, we will do custom prints IF we can. If you show up and the line is down the block, chances are we cannot. The goal is to raise as much money as we can for Rescue Ink/The Humane Society in one day via the event.
No one has made an appointment to do this because we are not taking appointments. It is strictly first-come, first serve.
If you want to get something beyond what we are doing, again, for the event, then feel free to walk in or make an appointment for another day.
Please email me if there are any other questions. I'll be glad to answer them!

You're right- There should be a cat print. I'd be bummed if I had a cat and couldn't get a print. I'll talk to them tonight.

I understand the reason for the universal print - BTM is trying to tattoo as many people as possible in order to make the maximum amount of money for charity. I have to say though - I don't really like the design as it stands now, maybe a cat print (which is more appropriate for me anyway) would be better. If there was any way for them to guarantee my cat's print, I'd do this in a heartbeat and would pay for two (and, of course, throw in a very generous tip for the artist), but since they understandably can't, I may just make a donation to Rescue Ink on my own and get my cat's print tattooed on me another time.

Could someone confirm if it's the black paw print with something blue on it? Are they letters? If so, what do they read?

What about offering 2 designs? I think if people don't like the design less people will come out. If there are 2 to choose from maybe it will draw more people but still be manageable for BTM...

It is not the print from the Facebook page. It is a different one.
There will be a cat paw print.

I think that I will get the tattoo as promised later, then as I want one unique to my dog- I plan on this being my only tattoo.

I'll be at Baltimore Humane Society for a Pit Bull Awareness day from 1-4: people should come check it out!

If it's not the print from the facebook page ... can someone post what it looks like?

Thanks!!!!

Any idea what time on Sunday they will be at the Humane Society?

The Rescue Ink event will be at the Baltimore Humane Society from 12-4 on Sunday, October 25 in conjunction with B-More Dog's Pit Bull Awareness Day celebration.

About Jill Rosen
Jill Rosen is a reporter at The Baltimore Sun. During her nearly 20 years in journalism, she has covered news and features — including a surprising number of stories that involved animals. There were the dog Christmas carolers in State College, Pa. There were the hounds who toured with a production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The story of a preschool teacher at Baltimore’s Father Kolbe School who had to replace her class guinea pig, who died over the winter holiday. A harrowing tale of what it was like to make homemade pet food ...

Though her clean freak of a mother refused to allow her to get a dog, she has had a number of pets through the years, including goldfish named Bob and Fingle, a betta fish named Ichabod, a wild rat terrier named Wendel, who she shared with a roommate, and, currently, sweet, sweet kitties named Leo Sesame and Milo Pumpkin and a little rescued pup named Teddy Bean. She, Leo, Pumpkin and Teddy Bean live in Baltimore.
