Someone furry has a Halloween costume...or two...
I said I wasn't going to do it, that I wasn't the type of pet parent that would put their dog in a costume.
And yet, we're approaching Halloween and Teddy Bean has, I'll admit it, a selection of things to wear.
Hee.
If he'll permit himself to be outfitted, he's going to look ADORABLE. But if he doesn't want to be costumed, I'm not going to force him.
I just decided it's the spirit of the season -- where's the harm in a little festive costume? Especially, if, hint, hint with the picture to the right, its would be ridiculously perfect for him? Heh.
Does anyone have strong feelings about pets in costume? I'm pretty sure my deskmate to the right, keeper of the B'More Green blog, would dress her Dizzy up over her dead body.
If you are pro-costume, want to share some of your all-time greatest Halloween hits? Or perhaps what your furry one will be dressing as this year, if, of course, the little dear will keep it on?

I stick with bandanas. My pit bull daughters look festive. Nothing falls off or gets torn off or lost. And I don't look or feel like one of those crazy dog people that dress up their dog in costumes :)

I'm pro-costume, as long as the owner doesn't go overboard (i.e. dressing them up on a non-holiday). But, to each is their own & who am I to judge?! This year for Halloween, my boyfriend & I are going to be Fred & Wilma Flinstone. We plan to dress our Sheltie-mix (at least that's what we think he is) up as Dino! We’re going to a pet-friendly party, so we just have to include him! Owen should do just fine with his costume; he did ok with his life preserver during the Ho. County Pooch Pool PaRtY this past September.

I never thought I would, and then I found a pig costume at Target last year and it was the last one there in Maisy's size. She wasn't super thrilled, but she was a pig. She'll be a pig again this year.

Last year, my sister got a ladybug costume for her dog and posted a picture to the web. I called her and said, "Just because you can't control what your daughter wears that doesn't mean you can inflict costumes on your dog!"

Growing up we dressed cats, dogs and a monkey. As an adult, I don't dress animals. Guess I just grew out of it. Animals possess a dignity all their own and probably shouldn't be subjected to our notion of what they should/shouldn't look like. Anything beyond a bandana - no. Less is more......

Lucy won't tolerate much more than a bandanna. For PetSmart's costume contest last Halloween, we dressed her up as Flavor Flav--she had a felt clock around her neck, but she wouldn't wear the Viking helmet, so we just sort of held it above her head for the pictures. The people who got it loved it, and everyone else was just confused.

I think it all depends on the pet. Some dogs seem to really like dressing up--others want no part of it. Most cats can't stand being costumed, but there are a few exceptions to the rule.
Does this mean Bean is staying with you, Jill?

My son loves dressing up! A friend of mine bought him a cape and he looks so proud hanging out of the car window wtih the cape whipping in the wind! He also has a rain coat (which he won't go outside without when it rains) and several sweaters. I'm in the market for a winter coat. My Min Pin, who is very sensitive to cold, will definitely get dresed up for Halloween!

I originally swore no clothes, but then a friend bought my maltese a sweater, and now she wears sweaters out if it's below 40 degrees (and likes the sweater because sweater=walk) and dresses up on holidays if only for a photo or two. Her first Halloween costume was a simple witch hat. This year she is just going to wear a little doggie Halloween tee from Old Navy. I always thought she'd be a great Oompa Loompa or Mini Hitler, though (if she could not lick the mustache away). Love Shannon's Flava Flav idea!
