Cute Costume Countdown: Johnny Cash!

So some locals have joined the Unleashed Costume Countdown 2009. Here we've got Johnny Cash, otherwise known as Frothy Brown Porter. That's his name 'cause, as his mom Angela Treadwell-Palmer says: "He looks like the foam of a porter."

Frothy is a rescued German Shorthaired Pointer. He can run 29 laps around Treadwell-Palmer's 1/2 acre lot without stopping. He can also run around our 4-foot diameter tree -- 12 times one way and then 12 times the opposite way -- in 1 minute without stopping. He sleeps head first - under the covers.

Every year his doggie daycare (Good Doggie Daycare on Ash St.)  has a costume party and this year he went dressed as Johnny Cash because Ms. Barbara, the morning manager greets him each time we drop him off with "Hey Porter" by Johnny Cash.  She calls him her Johnny Cash Porter.

Participate in Unleashed's Costume Countdown by sending a JPEG of your best (or worst) effort at costuming your pet to jill.rosen@baltsun.com.

About Jill Rosen
Jill Rosen is a reporter at The Baltimore Sun. During her nearly 20 years in journalism, she has covered news and features — including a surprising number of stories that involved animals. There were the dog Christmas carolers in State College, Pa. There were the hounds who toured with a production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The story of a preschool teacher at Baltimore’s Father Kolbe School who had to replace her class guinea pig, who died over the winter holiday. A harrowing tale of what it was like to make homemade pet food ...

Though her clean freak of a mother refused to allow her to get a dog, she has had a number of pets through the years, including goldfish named Bob and Fingle, a betta fish named Ichabod, a wild rat terrier named Wendel, who she shared with a roommate, and, currently, sweet, sweet kitties named Leo Sesame and Milo Pumpkin and a little rescued pup named Teddy Bean. She, Leo, Pumpkin and Teddy Bean live in Baltimore.
