A new one: Dog eats fake boob

Here's something you might not have thought of: A frisky dog, it seems, will eat fake boobs if you leave them within reach.

The LA Times quotes veterinarian Eric Barchas describing a couple who brought their five-year-old terrier into his animal hospital.

The woman carried with her a chewed-up box containing one stick-on, synthetic breast, size B, and one empty tray where the other had been.

In his account, Barchas wrote on Dogster:

I evaluated the piece of silicone, coated in polyurethane, that the dog had not consumed. Although it was non-toxic, there was little doubt that the other half of the pair ultimately would lodge in the intestines. The dog only weighed 15 pounds. Size B was too much for this guy to handle.

The pup made it. Read the full tale here.

Ok, it's just my little pet peeve, but I notice that the original article uses the word breast, while yours uses, in the headline no less, a word I just hate.

About Jill Rosen
Jill Rosen is a reporter at The Baltimore Sun. During her nearly 20 years in journalism, she has covered news and features — including a surprising number of stories that involved animals. There were the dog Christmas carolers in State College, Pa. There were the hounds who toured with a production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The story of a preschool teacher at Baltimore’s Father Kolbe School who had to replace her class guinea pig, who died over the winter holiday. A harrowing tale of what it was like to make homemade pet food ...

Though her clean freak of a mother refused to allow her to get a dog, she has had a number of pets through the years, including goldfish named Bob and Fingle, a betta fish named Ichabod, a wild rat terrier named Wendel, who she shared with a roommate, and, currently, sweet, sweet kitties named Leo Sesame and Milo Pumpkin and a little rescued pup named Teddy Bean. She, Leo, Pumpkin and Teddy Bean live in Baltimore.
